Well, the next couple of days are going to be filled with rumour and speculation and there will be a lot of ups and downs for Arsenal fans, that is the nature of the transfer window approaching a deadline.
One name that is being consistently linked with Arsenal is Juventus defender Daniele Rugani and according to reports in Italy as cited by the Daily Mail, personal terms have been agreed with the player.
Apparently, a 4 Million Euro salary offer has been accepted by the 25-year-old and all that is required to get this deal over the line is for Arsenal and Juventus to come to an agreement.
That agreement will probably be on the length of any loan deal and what clauses are included, however, a permanent deal cannot be ruled out categorically.
So, that is the situation according to Sportitalia and it is up to each individual fan to judge for themselves what is credible and what is not.
For me, I am inclined to believe this or at least something very close.
I am confident that Arsenal is in discussions with Juventus and representatives of the player, I do believe they want to sign him and that this is a deal that could very easily happen within the next 24 hours.
I do hope it is true we need proper defenders this season after all the hard work the board have done don’t spoil it now PLEASE
Rugani, Coutinuo and cabellos on loan together with Pepe, Auba and lacazette….this will be quite a force…
if we can get ozil motivated …we are up one level….
only weakness will be teamwork and communication as some of these players need time to adapt to a new country and club

If Ceballos is fit and can click well with his new teammates, I highly doubt Ozil would play in away games

Rumours are Ozil’s agent is in talks with DC United over a possible move. Pèpè and Coutinho could help counter Spurs Dybala and Ndombele signings. Without a marquee defender or two, however, we will still be behind them quality wise. Man utd have strengthened well but I don’t think they will surpass us this season.

They could be right, Man U have at least tried to fix their defence with Wan Bissaka and Maguire. We on the other hand have strengthened, but not in all the correct areas. Xhaka, Mustafi and AMN will be our undoing just like last season. Chelsea’s ban and Hazard loss will be a great help for all of us though. Maybe they will finish 6th, Man Utd 5th and Arsenal will sneak into 4th ???♂️

I’d prefer Arsenal to choose between Lewis Dunk, Michael Keane, James Tarkowski, Ibrahima Konate and Dayot Upamecano, instead of Joachim Andersen and Daniele Rugani. Unfortunately Arsenal can’t buy better CB, since they have spent a lot of money on three transfers and no CL
To anybody that regularly watched Rugani, Kamara and Stark played, please tell us whether those targets are as erratic as Mustafi or not. They should be better than Sokratis as well

Rugani isn’t any better than what we have TBH, he’s a player who’s soft, strikers one on one easily brush him off, and sometimes he’s erratic in his tacklings too, not to mention his mental strength which seems to be low for a player playing for Juventus.
Knowing Juventus is among the top clubs who can boast of solid and world class defenders every season, do you think Juventus would let Rugani go if there’s any way he’ll improve their squad? I’ll rather we get an English defender still better than what we have
I don’t know a great deal about him, Eddie… going by your analysis though, doesn’t sound very impressive… so 2 things spring to my mind – panic buy? And the last defender we got from Juve (actually it was on a free) Lichtsteiner… ?
Sue honestly I don’t think he’s any better than what we have, Mustafi is the Prototype of Mustafi. Rugani? he’s just the Lite version of Mustafi.
I’ll prefer we look for other CBs
But who knows? Players can fade off and go revive their career elsewhere, let’s hope he becomes better and doesn’t disappoint

Leipzi’s other CB Ibrahima Konaté is better than Dayot Upamecano, so why are we interested in Upamecano? I don’t think Rugani is as bad as you are saying. He wins most of his aerial duals, distributes well, and his mental strength low???? Not sure about that. He is more John Stones like who is also not so good on one to ones. But he can play football which both Mustafi and Socratis cannot. I agree that he is not the strongest tackler but he is a major upgrade on Socratis and Mustafi.
Sean, when Rugani was at Empoli, he was named at CB in the Seria A team of the season. He is also an Italian international player. On this basis Juventus signed him as a future prospect when their older CB’s retired or moved on. Unfortunately Rugani has been unable to displace Chiellini and Bonucci, two of the best CB’s in Europe. To say he is no better than Mustafi, is difficult to justify. At 25 given the opportunity with a run of games, which he really hasn’t been given by Juventus he may well thrive, given his height, skill set and experience in a defense orientated Seria A.

I’m in your camp. Nothing is certain but he is tall, skillful, an excellent distributor and better than Mustafi/Socratis. I do see a future situation of Saliba, Rugani, and Holding as our main three CBs. If we get him I would be quietly confident of making the top 4.

Boubara Kamara seems a good defender with Sergio Ramos style of play.
Boubacar Kamara will go to some German club for 15 – 20 mill., then a year or two later we’ll be asking them to sell him to us for 50 mill., and they’ll quote 60 or 70.
Buy French ligue defenders directly from France, Arsenal! Especially cases like Kamara with only 10 months left on his contract. Even if he fails, he can still easily be sold for at least the same amount of money when he has EPL experience.

Who cares what happens to them? Is Arsenal’s priority to win trophies or to develop young players’careers? Even if they progress, they will most likely reject any contract extension in order to secure better deals elsewhere. Ramsey, Fabregas, Nasri etc..they all leave as soon as they can. It’s pointless developing people’s careers. We should sign whoever benefits the club at the time regardless of whose future will be destroyed.
Quantic I quite agree with you, if a player has 4 year contract it must be stipulated that he renews after 2 years if he refuses then he is sold no matter what and once that is known by everybody then scenarios like Ramsey will never happen again
QD, Ironic isn’t it? How we developed players and they left in their peak, left us while we needed them, and we get mad and dislike them for it.
Only for a young French defender we brought in, nurtured and groomed to stay with his, give us his best years, play for us at his peak when others ran off, and he decides he wants to go back home to retire and we get mad and call him a disgrace. I admit he handled everything unprofessionally
dont know much about rugani but italian defenders are usually decent disciplined and good eye for the game if we get him and tierney we should be able to put together a good first 11 that can compete for top 4 … but if spurs get coutinho they will be serious contenders and man utd look like they will be better though i dont rate their manager .. chelsea the big uncertainty for me … untested manager not much addition lost their best player ..
I like the idea we are going for Rugani and if he has agreed terms with us and it’s just details between us and the old lady then I’ll be happy if the deal goes through.
If we can keep chambers and holding fit and can get regular game time this season, I believe they can form a quality partnership, they just need the chance to do so.
Let’s not forget that chambers has had 2 very good loan spells and was Fulham player of the year, and he is versatile.
Think about it for a moment, if we do sign Rugani, he won’t start any games this month, same if we do sign Tierney.
He’s out till October at earliest.

I have to agree with Towny here,we don’t need Coutinho we have enough attacking options,the defence is the main priority now, it has to be, I hope Raul is playing it cute,he never mentions targets because he says as soon as you do their price sky rockets i hope his silence will be golden.
