Come On Arsenal! – beat Chelsea and win us another trophy

So we are closing in at last on our first competitive game of the season, and obviously if Arsenal can beat the reigning Champions Chelsea in the Community Shield it can give us great confidence going into the new season. I know a lot of fans don’t count the Community Shield as a real trophy but in other countries it is called ‘The Super Cup’ and is given much more prominence.

Arsenal beat Chelsea in our last appearance at Wembley in the FA Cup Final (I guess that’s not a real trophy either according to some ‘fans’) and if we can do it again I for one will be very very happy! Arsene Wenger also thinks this is a very important game. “For us it is just a good opportunity to repeat the performance from the FA Cup final,” the Boss said. “The two teams will certainly go for the first trophy of the season with power and a desire as well to be ready for the championship, so that plays a part in it as well.

“I would say that Chelsea look like they have kept the basis of 95 per cent of their squad. They have added Bakayoko who is a very strong player, strong ball-winner, similar to Matic, maybe less distant runner but more of an impact player – but certainly they will fight for the championship again.

“They have replaced Costa with Morata. Morata is maybe less of a goalscorer than Costa, but he can score and provide as well.

“Against us in Asia, Batshuayi played very well. He is a young striker who is promising as well, so I expect them to fight again for the championship.”

I am certain neither side will be happy to lose this game, so it will be a very hard fought contest with some brilliant players on the pitch. I am expecting to watch an attacking skilful display of football to get everyone in the mood for the start of the League campaign, and I am also expecting Arsenal to win us another trophy!
