Khedira is KEEN but should Arsenal try again for transfer?

We don´t know for sure, of course, but the general consensus in the football media seems to be that the principal reason for Arsenal not going all out to complete the signing of Sami Khedira in the January transfer window was his wage demands.

There were other factors reported in various Arsenal transfer rumours, such as his current club manager Carlo Ancelotti insisting that Real Madrid were determined to keep him, play him and persuade him to sign a new contract. We also heard from rumours in Spain that the player himself was keen to prove himself to his manager and the Madrid fans, but that all sounds like bluff and bluster to me.

It now seems painfully obvious that Khedira is surplus to requirements at the Spanish giants, as he has only played 17 games for them this season. Only 10 of those were starts and he only got that many because Modric has been injured for months. So it is no surprise to see a Metro report revealing that the World Cup winning Germany international is now ready to move on when his current contract expires at the end of the season.

Khedira said, “Am I open to Schalke?’

“I am open to many teams.”

The question for Arsene Wenger now is, does he try again to bring the German to Arsenal? It would have to be on a more reasonable salary than the ridiculous amounts being mentioned in previous transfer windows. Even then I think it might not be the right move for us. Khedira has had recurring injury problems and the last thing we need is more of them.

Personally I would rather we go for Schneiderlin. How about you?

  1. please no he is so injury prone, earlier this year he was out with an ankle injury and then had to have surgery on his hamstring (something along those lines). And he looks like a shadow of his former self, there are many other options who are better suited for us.

  2. 1 name comes to mind, Henderson the obvious choice.

WC and will instantly improve our club

    Hahahahaha

  3. Injury prone he is…worse still he’s not an enforcer..he always wanna attack wif the ball wch is not d kind of player we want.
Arteta was great…he sacrificed his attacking skills for arsenal whereas flamini who is not as talented attackwise roams to score goals…..le Coq is successful bcos he does wot he’s supposed to.
Its more abt intelligence and maybe talent

  4. Does somebody actually KNOW how good he currently is? Has anybody actually seen him play recently? If so, please, tell what’s your opinion about him, regarding his recent performances, and if he’s worth buying, instead of someone like Schneiderlin.

    1. Highly overrated

passing, tackling nothing special hardly ever had a 7/10 season injury prone, commits silly fouls, poor positioning

  5. i don’t know what y’all see in khedira……. But i obviously do not rate him nor want him in this team….do i hate him this much?.NO!…. But he’s more of a B2B midfielder than a DM….plus once you’ve clicked 30…..i start Losing my appetite…cept perhaps u are a TR7 kinda guy

  6. Priority is job interviews for a new manager/coach when Le prof retires which is more important than buying the overated overpaid footballers.

  7. If you mean Kheidira, then yes! I KNOW how he currently is and it’s far from good.

Actually, the guy is Diaby’s first cousin and his current form is not far from Bosingwa’s.

      1. @moneytalks
Big strong powerhouses can’t manhandle Messi or Ronaldo. They’re to skillful to be caught out by lumbering beasts…

  8. We need to be very careful while signing a CDM. Looking at our CM injury hit players like Ramsey,
Wilshere, Diaby, Arteta and Flamini we have to make the best signing.I can’t take injury hit players anymore.

    1. this is why need to sign a couple more DMs and CMs to provide cover….and compete with each other….

  9. Why is everyone comparing him to Schneiderlin, Kondogbia, etc

Khedira is a box to box midfielder like Ramsey, Pogba, Lars bender, Gundogan, Vidal, etc

Also, what has Arsene Wenger done or said that makes you think he even wants a defensive midfielder. Wenger is attacking minded.

Honestly, don’t get your hopes up for a defensive midfielder. You probably will be very disappointed

As for Khedira, he has only had injuries the last two seasons. Before that he never had injuries. Khedira is as “injury prone” as Walcott, Arteta, Ramsey etc. In other words he is NOT injury prone. Just had a couple of unlucky seasons. Just look at his career statistics

  10. we just need to buy a proper DM cover/competition for le coq. i dont see many better player than him at the moment.
