Khedira rules out Arsenal move in January

A lot of Arsenal fans were pinning our hopes on getting Sami Khedira from Real Madrid in January, but the latest utterings from the German international has made it clear that he will not be leaving the Spanish giants this winter.

Khedira said in the Mail: ‘Right now, I cannot see any reason why I would leave the club this winter.’

‘Real Madrid is a great club to be at. This club has a place in my heart and there is absolutely no reason for me to say that I want to or have to leave.

‘I get the feeling I am still wanted (by coach Carlo Ancelotti).’

Ancelotti said last week that he would carry on trying to persuade Khedira to sign a new contract at Madrid right until his present deal runs out next summer, although the midfielder will certainly have some lucrative offers from other clubs considering he will be available on a free transfer.

Many pundits have expressed the thought that Khedira is exactly the type of midfielder that would make Arsenal hard to beat in the New Year, but now it looks like Wenger will have to either wait until next summer to get him on a free, or bring in a completely different target in January.

Who should Wenger make as his main DM target in the winter window now that Khedira is unavailable?
