Kolasinac looking for repeat performance against Tottenham

Sead Kolasinac was Arsenal’s first signing of last summer’s transfer window and he started the season in fine form with his agressive style and great attacking vision. He seems to have fallen a bit out of favour with Wenger at the moment, but he is hoping he will be in the team tomorrow and is looking forward to beating Tottenham again tomorrow after playing in his first North London derby back in November.

“You notice the tension before the game,” Sead said on Arsenal.com. “When you come out onto the pitch, you realise that the fans are fully there.

“It’s a very special game for the club and it was a special one for me, because it was my first one with Arsenal. I’m pleased that we won it and I hope further victories will follow.

“I think we approached the derby the way you need to. We were aggressive without the ball and calm with it. We scored our first through a set-piece, which was decisive.

“Once we were in front, it was clear that Tottenham needed to push more and we had the quality to score the second.

“We did that in the first half and then in the second half, we defended really well and didn’t concede. That was decisive.”

Before we played that game, Arsenal had just had a pasting from Manchester City, and the Spuds were on a high after beating Real Madrid. Everyone was salivating about how brilliant our rivals were and nobody gave us any chance of winning the game. But we proved them wrong and we must do the same thing tomorrow. This game is absolutely massive for our season and their is no room for error.

Stick the Tank on and let him show them no mercy!

    Thumbs button please

Maybe include it in articles as well with same effect that it hides the bad ones, just a suggestion.

  2. I like Sead a great deal. I think he was one of the better signings, and we have yet to see his best.

The problem for Wenger was getting Ox, Jack, Ramsay, etc. signed or sold. Thus, Wenger often has to get the British lads time in the middle for these purposes. I think that after he can signl Jack Ramsay, there will more direct use of the best players. Theo was expendable once signed. I think we should sold Theo last year.

I think Sead’s best position is at the base of the 442 diamond. He cannot be knocked off the ball, he tackles hard, and is deceptively fast. He is naturally big, so his muscle twitch is quicker than a beefed up player. Attackers will be forced to avoid him, or be embarrassed off the ball. In advanced positions that he can dribble to given space, Sead’s shot is the hardest in the team that I have seen–it is a rocket that I would like to see used more from just outside the box.

    …………………Ospina………………………
    Bellerin . Koscielny . Mustafi . Monreal
    ……………………SEAD………………………
    ………Mkhitaryan………Ramsay…………
    ………………………Ozil……………………
    ………………Laca……Auba………………

    1. My lineup is similar to yours. I will prefer this

      …………………Ospina………………………
      Bellerin . Koscielny . Mustafi . SEAD
      ……………………Xhaka………………………
      ………Mkhitaryan………Ramsay…………
      ………………………Ozil……………………
      …………Monreal……Auba………………

      1. My line – up would be Ospina
        Bellerin Mustafi Kos Monreal
        Ramsey Saed
        Mik Willshere Ozil
        Aubamayeng
This formation would also let the midfield 3 roam across the pitch

    2. I intrigued by the prospect of this formation, except I’ll swap Ramsey for Wilshere……… we get to play two brilliant strikers as well as two brilliant playmakers, that could be devastating for any opposition…… and I feel Kolasinac would make a decent DM

    1. Thanks georgie b!

I think Wenger will use Auba and Laca together. He has said so.

One actual reason he might be hesitant with Laca in the EPL is that Auba cannot play in the Europe League, so we need to make sure we have a top striker for those games, as winning there is another way for CL football for the next season.

How I wish Welbeck suddenly became the a dominant striker!

  3. If KOS and co don’t mess the defence up. As for attack I think we are alright, but our defence is terrible!!! Alarmingly terrible. So if KOS want us to win he and co should show us an outstanding defence!

    1. Kos and Mustafi are being asked to do much in attack, so a DMF helps with that extra person to handle the transition from defending to attacking. The bottom of the diamond is thus moveable, and the top areas should more too. The diamond provides the lines for the ball to travel normally.

The pivotal player for the diamond is not yet at Arsenal, a Scholes type ruthless players, who can pass and tackle with alarming speed. Sead maybe… I still have not seen Schalke games to know how well he did in the middle.

Football is a team game, and what we see as defensive errors are sometimes caused by overload by the system being played.

So please do not run down our back four. Yes, they are not perfect, but they are very good under normal work load. However, if our MF players neglect to track back or in general make enemy attackers earn their time on the ball, then the back four will make mistakes.

      1. You nailed it mate ???.

Unfortunately, Team Management/Coaching Role is not through the ballot system, you would have beaten Wenger, Morin, Poch and co hands down, with this analysis presented as manifesto.

Keep working at it mate, who knows? ?, Wenger’s role may be vacant in June 2021 ???

  4. Wenger will not make changes to the team that beat Everton. He wont feel the need. Trying Sead in a DM role is too risky for this must win match.
He should do it at some point as Xhaka is definitely not the man for the job but he wont. He will stay loyal to Xhaka and Iwobi. Laca will start on the bench.
    It’s the Wenger way.

    1. I agree. This Spurs game comes too quickly. I think in the future either Niles of Kolasnic will be playing DM, unless they sign someone already proven in the summer. May depend on how well Niles develops. He could get as big as Patrick, or has his growth spurt stopped?

What Wenger will sign is a one or two central defenders as the farm system does not seem to have any worthy of the role.

  5. I have commented before on this site and others that Lacazette would be a complete waste of money as he lacks pace. So many teams in the prem defend deep and his lack of Vardy or Walcott pace off the mark will be shown up

  6. Tony Lacazette’s brain speed combined with his feet speed is what have enabled him to make intelligent runs into the channels and behind defenses. Unfortunately in some games when Ozil was unavailable, Lacazette has made such runs, but the other players have failed to find him. Therefore I do not agree with your comments; please check Lacazette’s goals and assists to minutes played.
