Latest injury news for Arsenal and Man Utd ahead of big clash

Both Arsenal and Manchester United have been giving injury updates ahead of the Premier League clash between the pair at Old Trafford on Monday evening.

Starting off with Arsenal, the news is not so bad, there are just four players unavailable, three through injury and one because of suspension.

Alex Lacazette is under rehabilitation on his injured left ankle and will be out until October.

Emile Smith Rowe is under assessment following his head injury which occurred Tuesday evening against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup.

Dinos Mavropanos is actually back in full training and according to the Arsenal website is available for selection.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles is suspended due to his red card against Aston Villa.

As for Manchester United, it is a different story altogether, they have some really key men unavailable.

According to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the United website the following players are sidelined.

Paul Pogba is a doubt for the Arsenal game
Phil Jones out
Anthony Martial out
Marcus Rashford out
Luke Shaw out
Diogo Dalot out
Angel Gomes out
Eric Bailly out
Tim Fosu-Mensah out

That is the sort of injured list that Arsenal had a few months back and must have some sort of impact on Monday evening, especially, Pogba, Rashford and Martial all absent.

United still have a squad of good players and it would be a mistake to assume that Arsenal have the upper hand because of injuries but I would rather be in Arsenal’s position than United’s.

It should also be noted that Pogba is just a doubt, do not be surprised if he makes a miraculous recovery.

    1. Niles isn’t suspended
(talking to the Author, not Sue lol) Sue, you are correct

Niles served his suspension against Forrest

    1. that shouldn’t act as a guarantee to the starting eleven, if he doesn’t perform, emery has to dip him or else the pressure will pile on the coach.

      1. That’s nuts and disheartening

Torrents, Guendouzi, Wilock, Ceballos should all be ahead of Xhaka on the starting lineup

Also Bellerin, Leno, Aubameyang, Holding, Torreira should be considered for Captain over Xhaka

    2. Hopefully come the Summer both Xhaka and Emery will be employed elsewhere. Arsenal need winners and commitment.

  1. It’s great if Martial and Rashford are out

We just need to beware of Lingard and James, two fast attackers that could hit us in counter-attacks

Based on that injury list, Arsenal should be able to defeat Man United. I’m just worried that Emery would use the diamond formation again

  2. My congratulations to Granit Xhaka on his confirmation as the Arsenal 1st team squad captain.
But if AMN is eligible for Man U match on Monday night, then us could see UE bench Chambers for the match. And that will be unfortunate because Chambers is currently looking to be inform to start the Man U match at RB.

  3. My congratulations to Granit Xhaka for his being confirmed as the Arsenal 1st team squad captain.
But if AMN is eligible for Man U match on Monday night in the PL, then us Gooners might see UE bench Chambers for the match to start AMN. But this could be unfortunate because Chambers is currently looking to be inform to start for Arsenal at RB against Man U.

  4. Perfect plan well executed Emery!
Now the fans won’t be able to call him out because we’ll have to think “Oh well Emery didn’t make him captain ”

Gear up lads, you’re yet to see Xhaka in action, all league games belongs to him.
On the other hand, Emery playing smart will definitely backfire because the fans are clearly tired of his obsession with Dhaka.
Now that Xhaka is captain, it’ll spell more doom the moment he puts a foot wrong, the fans will eat him and Emery raw the moment Xhaka delivers his usual screw up

    1. Unfortunately Emery is a very weak manager. Xhaka is not a good player and would be better suited to Stoke City. Dirty and Clumsy. I really believe Emery will go in the Summer. My three legged dog could manage that team better !!

  5. Xhaka as Captain. A very poor choice by Emery

Emery either thinks he is good enough to start or it will improve his playing performance

Even if Xhaka doesn’t start often, a captain should be a regular starter

I would have gone for Bellerin or our best performing players ie Aubameyang or Torreira

  6. With the injury situation at Man United currently, Emery does not have any excuse for Arsenal not being six points gap to one of top four contenders.Hope he won’t celebrate draw cos its away match. We have lost to Liverpool, drew Tottenham, we need to win at Man United as there is no assurance with his selection that we can win Liverpool at Emirates and Man City, home and away. On Monday night will tell

    1. Correct but Emery picked him, just as he picks team. Our main issue is how unai picks, no matter players he has available or not, he will find a way to get it all wrong beside players out of position as AMN and Xhaka.

Why play them if you have Chambers who is better in both position? And at CB of course, before sokratis Luiz…

We have almost players back, but watch team Emery picks, then makes desperate changes.. .

  7. Been an Arsenal Fan for forty years. Seen good and bad times. I don’t think Granit deserves to be Captain. He is lazy, clumsy and not competent enough to play in the Premiership. I am a season ticket holder and don’t believe in Emery. When his two years is up in the Summer We should say adios amigo ! !

  8. It’s not surprising that Granit has got the captaincy but I now think it’s a bad choice. Before the season began yes Xhaka has more of a dominant nature than others in the side, mentality wise, and he’s captained a few sides so it’s not surprising at all. Add to that how the fans are often saying how we need leaders, pundits too, so we don’t have a wealth of options if we’re being honest. His comments after the Watford game, though, they made us look weaker, that wasn’t leadership. He should have tried using some leadership that day. Then the Spu game how he made matters worse. I think the decision to make him captain now is ill timed, but I hear the players had a helping hand in the final decision.

Maybe Emery is thinking I need him, he watched on as the fans acted extremely poorly the other week, Emery then went out and backed him publicly, the players now seem to have done the same by voting for him, so maybe they feel the fans could have dealt us some lasting damage so they all stepped in here to try and mend the situation. They are a team after-all.

He was always going to be one of the top candidates and if you don’t see that then you’re lying to yourself. This doesn’t mean that it can’t change at some stage, nor does it mean that he’s exempt from being dropped. Emery doesn’t want only one lad out there shouting instruction, that was his whole point about the five captains. The board said that we’re looking into the winter market, so we should expect arrivals to midfield over the next two windows and maybe even a new captain. Emery doesn’t seem to me to be afraid in making changes nor to drop any a player so I hope he drops Xhaka if he doesn’t live up to the captains mantle.

So far (I would say) in this season, Guendouzi is the only one I who has come close to nailing down a starting position in the midfield centre.

Captain I would choose is Lacazette as of now, but I don’t really like forwards being captain. I’d imagine Holding is a popular choice right now, he’d be better than Bellerin (imo) who others have asked for. Tierney might have captained a side before I don’t know. We don’t have a wealth of options when looking from the outside – but those inside will know a great deal more than we ever will.

  9. I blame Ozil for the injury list and Xhaka getting the captaincy – that’s the only logical explanation if you live in the rubbish world of a certain fan on here.

Now back to the real world and despite all the spending on twelve new players, getting rid of the “deadwood” and AW leaving, we are still seeing a manager/coach who selects his favourite players, still makes substitutions in the seventieth minute, has an even worse defensive record and method than before, leaves out players who are playing well and making a “deadwood” player our permanent captain…Yes indeedy we certainly have got our Arsenal back – trouble is it’s even worse!

OT will be the real and undeniable test for UE, a weakened manure, while he has a squad full of players raring to go and with only Lacs and AMN being the first team regulars out of contention.
Get it correct UE and we will be right behind you, that’s for sure.
Let’s see Cabs and Ozil out there together, causing mayhem and Captain Marvel directing the team…3-0 to the Gunners!!!

  10. Basically like our horrific defense Xhaka is the best we have.
CB’s are usually good Captains but Socritis Musafi and Luiz
(thank goodness) will all be gone in the summer.
Ozil has always been a reluctant skipper.
Bellerin by years is a candidate but seems too laid back.
    Every one else is new.
Xhaka is just like Arteta. Neither is good enough to be in the team but the alternatives are so poor.
I believe Emery does not want Xhaka in fact the truth be known Emery wants 9-10 new players but has been left with garbage. Guadiola Klopp Mourinho Lampard and Pochetino have all
bullied their way to getting who they want.
Emery has no standing at the club so just takes what he is given.
Why did the club hire Emery if they were not going to back him?
Llunjberg though has standing at the club as a former great player will demand a massive clear out and then buy everyone he wants.
Emery has been set up to fail and having to appoint Xhaka
a player who should not start is evidence of this.
Llunjberg like a vulture is circling.

  11. Now Pogba might even be out for next match. You can’t ask for an easier lineup… How we gunna screw this one up folks? 😐

  12. Xhaka has been named the captain. We should support him and the team.
I am more concerned about his frequent mistakes. Just maybe this will make him play better. Emery has a meek personality, he probably went for a captain that will not stand up to him.

  13. I do seem to remember a few years back we had utd at OT.. they had a massive injury list and going through a dodgy patch of results.. we on the other hand were full strength (bar 1 or 2) and on a decent run.. we still lost!! And to make matters worse, due to the Injuries to most their forward line a certain youngster Marcus rashford scored a couple!! Now I would hate to see a repeat of that game but if utds injury list is true they have injuries to most their forward line.. the only option being a youngster called Will Greenwood.. who they rate very highly!! plus they have dan James who is bloody quick and likes to shoot!!

All I’m trying to say is although I believe utd are there for the taking and beating them on their own turf would be awesome but we haven’t won their for best part of a decade!! So dont be fooled by all the injury info they still have players that can hurt us.. expect a tough game and let’s just hope we are disciplined and we cut out the individual mistakes, start with a fast tempo we may have a chance of 3points!! I always worry what team emery puts out but for me I would go

    Leno
    Chambers holding Luiz tierney
    Xhaka gwendoze
    Willock
    Pepe saka
    Auba
