Latest Wilfried Zaha transfer news is not good news for Arsenal fans

It was always going to happen, the longer Arsenal took to come to an agreement with Crystal Palace for Wilfried Zaha, the more chance that another club would come in and snatch the winger from under our noses.

The club probably thought they held the upper hand because Zaha wanted to sign for Arsenal and that may have been true to some extent but according to the Standard, Zaha is tempted to join Everton, who can afford his fee in one go.

The idea that Zaha would refuse to sign for any other club than Arsenal was always one for the birds, he was always going to be tempted by an ambitious club that could hand him a huge salary and that is now the case with the Toffees.

Palace is probably resigned to selling Zaha but only at the right price but never to a club that offered tens of millions under their valuation padded out with offers of fringe players in some sort of convoluted swap deal.

I would now suggest that the Toffees are the new front runners, the Ivory Coast international is tempted by Everton, Palace will sell at the right price and the Merseysiders have an owner that will finance the transfer.

I am not sure what Arsenal can do now to compete with that.

    Saha sorry

  3. gotanidea says:

No probs, it’s better to splash 50+ M on a younger left-footed RW anyway

If Arsenal don’t have the cash, they should try to loan Malcom, Vinicus Jr or Rodrygo Goes

    1. NONNY says:

      You forgot to mention
      Your inverted winger

      1. Welbeck says:

Well I have to admit I’m rather surprised the media hasn’t mentioned this already but, we have a surplus amount of WHINGERS in our ranks, why not use one of them?!?!

  4. Innit says:

    No worries. There are others
    Ryan Fraser, Ziyech etc

    1. Dan kit says:

      Two words -no ambition

      1. Welbeck says:

Or maybe not enough collateral ammunitionis the reason why Arsenal are in this position.

        (oooh that rhymed?)

    2. Maks says:

I agree… I dnt rate Zaha that much and exp no way 60 and above mil. Ziyech or anybody else will be mich better for us regarding money and skills as well.

  5. Declan says:

We’re falling way behind everyone else.
spurs are now chasing Dybala at £80 million having just announced a new £320 million over 8 years shirt deal. What’s ours, £300 over 10 years? Our club is run by rank amateurs who couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewery.

    1. Uthgunner says:

Declan 300 over 5 years the Adidas deal.

      1. Mogunna says:

That’s right Uthgunner but difference is that Kroenke keeps it all as rest of incomes. No sponsor will bé on out shirt if WE dont buy any and no one in stadium, no TV will then broadcasts an empty stadium. That’s how we end Kroenke fun on all of us and AFC History ans legacy.

Read an idiot saying Emery was already as last Wenger years who was saying we will Fight for top4 but not title with no budget. Emery Saïd WE wont make Top4, he is realistic, but doesnt get nor asks for CD defender which is why we not making it for few years… Just as Wenger keeping Mert, bringing Mustafi, because no budget to go After a top Defender. KOUlibaly! Hello!

    2. Gunnertz says:

Arsenal is £300m for 5 yrs
If dyabala worth £80m Zaha’s equal is fair deal, Zaha is far better than dybala

    3. Ackshay says:

we get 60 per year, spurs get only plus they are locked for 10 years while we can renegotiate in 5.

      1. Ackshay says:

        * only 40

  6. 350oz says:

We don’t want to enter a bidding war over him, the price is unrealistic enough.
Here is a food for thought:
Suppose Danny Wellbeck joined C.Palace after he failed at Man Utd, then he scored 15, 18, and last season 20 goals, is he suddenly world class and worth 80m?
In my opinion, a Manchester Utd flop can only redeem himself by going to top clubs like Barcelona and Juventus, be a regular there and win something.
For example: Paul Pogba & Gerard Pique
Don’t get me wrong, he certainly will improve us but the price is over the top. I think 40m is his true value, already accounted for the recent market bubble. If not for that, his value is 30m.

    1. Jay says:

I don’t think Zaha is worth 80mil max 50m. There better and more versatile players we can get for less. Let it pass please

    2. Gunnertz says:

Stop fooling yourself man, If its me I’d go for £80m asking price completely regarding current market price, zaha for 40m! real!!? Don’t tell me joelinton of Newcastle or westham’s new sign haller are better than zaha, the players you never heard out before there transfers still signed for 45m….. What about lukaku 75m, Morata 67m, Erizabaraga 70m are twice better than zaha? ,even de bruyne and Sarah were Chelsea flop

      1. richie says:

De Bryn and salah were never flops they just were not given playing time

        1. gunnertz says:

@richie.. from the same point of view zaha was never floped at manure but not given playing time

      2. Mobella says:

Zaha stats in the epl from last season down to the previous ones are 10,9,7,2,4,0,0,0 this form doesn’t come close to 80m. Is he better than all they options we have on the wings, yes he is and that is because they are no natural wingers. Westham and Newcastle are either dumb if they believe those two worth that much or are desperate for No 9. German clubs will not pay 20m for those players if the movement is other way round. Do you think Kos worth the 10m we ask for, or Elneny worth 20m. Hazard went to Real for 90m euro plus add on, €90m is £80m+ . Is Zaha that close to Hazard in talent and productivity

        1. gunnertz says:

@Mobella… i’m not fan of stats when comes to player quality assesment, do mustafi better than vvd since has more tackles and interceptions? besides hazard, mane, salah, son and sterling (all of them are top 4 teams players) zaha is the best wide attacker in the league far more than hyped rashford, sane and dele ali, remember we’re taking about a player who is playing in the bus packing team, alongside benteke as main partner in far less creativity squad than we are, so he is most marked player in the team yet besides goals his stats in other attributes are comparing with hazard(dribling and foul won etc), with zaha 10+goals and 5 penalties won quarenteed…. regarding hazard price was low due to length of his remain contract, remember we sold RVP for £24m(top scorer) for the same reason

          1. sanmi.marvellous says:

            @gunnertz
Thanks for your comprehensive and valid reply.

Many fans like comparing apples with oranges. Zaha is better than any winger in our team since invincible time. Walcott had a lightening speed but many time over ran the ball or with poor end products.
Zaha is the best player from the team outside top 6 or 7 in EPL

        2. ozziegunner says:

          ?

      3. Atid says:

I just don’t understand why Emery is so hell bent on a new left back? When he clearly has bigger problems in other areas most notably centre back.

In Monreal we have one of the best defensive left backs when played in a back 4, the stats don’t lie and just recently he has found a goal or two easier to come by. In Kolasinac, we have one of the best attacking full backs, when playing as wing back in a back 3, whilst Monreal is also better than Mustafi in the back 3, which quite frankly is the only way Mustafi gets a start if everyone is fit, but he still shouldn’t.

My biggest concern is that are best centre back (holding) is still not fit. Our “2nd best” (Sokratis) is a liability. Mavropanos has injury problems as well as Emery not being entirely convinced. Chambers has been in 3 defensive roles for his last two loan clubs and both got relegated, Monreal is a better left back than a centre back. Bielik is seemingly on his way, Ballard has gone on loan as has Sheaf whilst Medley is so inexperienced, having never even experienced a loan spell.

Yet what centre back have we actually been chasing?

      4. 350oz says:

Good luck asking 80m to daddy Kroenke man, btw Lukaku and Morata are deemed surplus hence the fee is lower whereas Zaha is C.Palace’s talisman, their ace.
De Bruyne has proved himself in Wolfsburg and in 2015 he was named Footballer of the Year in Germany.
Regarding Salah here is the excerpt: “Following consistent match-winning performances in Rome to lead them to second-placed finish and a record points-tally in 2017, Salah returned to the Premier League in order to sign for Liverpool”
Now tell me what accolades Zaha comes with? and don’t tell me C.Palace is better than Wolfsburg and Roma.
In my book, Zaha hasn’t graduated yet from Man Utd Flop Club (MU FC), he’s just doing good with his study. Don’t get me wrong, Zaha is quality yes, but world class & worth 80m no.
Flops can be good (Pogba, Pique, etc) but Zaha hasn’t proven anything yet and I’m afraid that CP is his ceiling, big fish in small pond they say. I’m afraid he will only revert to his level after making a move to Arsenal.

        1. Chris says:

Completely agree with your post. Zaha is better than what we currently have, but that doesnt mean that we should overpay and compromise for a player that is in my honest opinion, just another good player. I cant believe one of the comments in this thread said that he is better than sane..

  7. Neil Fitt says:

IT Ain’t over yet watch this space!

  8. KAY Boss says:

Look, anyone touting Ryan Fraser as a good winger is speaking out of frustration. Is he better than Sarr? If we are to sign, I expect better than this Fraser other than that keep the money and prepare well for next summer.
Enough of people bugging up average players beyond their level. So annoying.

  9. NONNY says:

    I’m not any worried because
    The club have succeeded in
    Convincing the fans that black
IS white and white is black.
Let’s keep linning up team of
    Average mediocre players and
Hoping they pull down the roof
At the Emirates..last time we spend
Big was on laca and auba..and they
Are the only ones worth watching in
    That team last season…aresnal is
Among top 10 richest club yet can’t
Buy 30million players going for loans
    I’m missing something can someone
Explain to me what rich as regards to
    Football means

  10. Dmar williams says:

If palace are demanding that money. We should be in for Nicolas pepe. He is better imo and younger and scores more goals.

@kev or anyone any news on dani alves. I think he will be good edition

  11. ClassyGunner says:

I don’t mind at all. Everton can have Zaha at that inflated price. Arsenal should not pay beyond 40m for him. I stand with Arsenal on this one.

    Everton Soares please.

    1. ozziegunner says:

      ?

  12. Lenohappy says:

Wow now Everton can sign the players we can’t sign, this is got to be the most frustrating transfer window for arsenal. Top7 calling.

  13. Adajim says:

High purchase price doesnt mean high value, spur used to squander money on arsenal targets, its now everton turn, lets go for soars since we already agreed deal.
I trust we will get our big player anouncement soon since Zaha destraction is coming to an end.
Ppl seems to confuse UE for Wenger by hoping he will try moarning about how we ‘tried to sign zaha’ but i reckon UE is more direct. During winter he told us not to expect marque signing, only loan deal, this summer he told us to be expectant. For next season he told us to be realistic and not expect EPL glory as we cant compete with lpool and city yet.
He already spoke about how he value attack over defense and already analyse how he will set up his defense. This i like about him unlike wenger who accept all blames and shield every1 from d reality/responsibility

    1. GB says:

There is no deal for Everton Soares and we haven’t even made contact with him or his agent.

      1. Uthgunner says:

GB so we must take ur word over Sky sports?

        1. GB says:

Entirely up to you my friend, I’m just passing my information on.

  14. Sarmmie says:

Zaha is not worth this, he’s not worth that, says who? You work at transfer market or what?

We’re poor or miserly, that’s just it, If we had excess, would you say he’s not worth this or that. Is Ndombele worth 60m, is Bissaka worth 50,is rodrygo worth 60,does Lucas Hernandez worth 60? Do you see any if the fans of the clubs that bought them complaining. That is those that understand that a player worths anything when you need him

    1. ClassyGunner says:

Mustafi 35M, Xhaka 35M do you see fans of that club complaining?
The other side: Laca and Auba bought at high prices. Are the fans complaining? Its not just about the high price. It is about what value you get?

I take it that you are working at the transfer market so your opinion should count over someone else.

The price u just look else
        Where…for Mustafi and xhaka
Do anyone thought of them as
        World class before they joined
Us they where just mediocre players
We were hoping that they becomes world
Beaters par kalasinac who made budesliga
11 before joking us I couldn’t see what
Mustafi and xhaka did that interested us..
TO be frank we got what we paid for…

  15. ACE says:

This obsession with Zaha has reached
the level of pure comedic gold. The
Ivorian is a very good player and
when in the mood(only a few matches a
    season) can be virtually unplayable.
WTS on these BEST days he is still at
most a £50M player. If Everton wish
to DRASTICALLy OVERPAY for WILF than
AFC would be wise to step aside and
let the Merseyside club make this
    foolish not AMBITIOUS decision.
IMPO AFC could turn to any of the
    following players that are highly
    rated and would cost SIGNIFICANTLY
less than CP asking price for Zaha

    H. Lozano
    D. Costa
    L. Bailey

Zaha is miles ahead of them that you have mention
For a start none have even played in this country .

          1. ozziegunner says:

Nonny, what does a “Cheap Wenger” look like and what position does he play?
Was this a Freudian slip and is the “Wenger” cheap because his zippier doesn’t work ??

        3. gunnertz says:

@ACE do you real think pep or klop will pick d.costa, k.coman, ziyech, bailey, lozano, bergwijn over zaha?

  16. femi says:

lol….you guys are funny really zaha of all people…what will his 10 goals do for arsenal?becos mustafi gave away an opportunity to him if arsenal a good defender will he had done that…K. Coman
    D. Costa L. BaileyH. Lozano H. Ziyech S. Bergwijn are by far better than zaha o

IS what will make us competitive let them go for them
Liverpool have the same idea of what they wanted with

Filling a gap or adding players that will suit what the
    Manager what’s from his team

We have been spending on defence and are still having
Defensive issues same as midfielders it’s not always
    About the no.
I would prefer spending the whole of our budget on a quality
Player who will most likely deliver than feeling 6 holes that
We will likely still be looking for replacements come another
Window look at our CF’S it’s one area we are guaranteed why can’t
We take same initiative on other positions it’s not always about
Filling a whole in the squad but doing a job in the squad…
