Leicester are more confident now but Arsenal can dominate again

Wenger wants domination over Leicester by Sam P

This is one game I just cannot wait to see when Arsenal take on Leicester tomorrow lunchtime. We totally dominated them in the reverse fixture when we stopped their unbeaten run with a massive 5-2 victory and we remain the only team to have destroyed the Foxes this season. But can we do it again?

Arsene Wenger believes that Claudio Ranieri’s side has gained more confidence since that meeting and have recently improved further. Wenger thinks it is great that that Leicester are proving that you don’t have to spend squillions to do well in the Premiership and are getting he support of all the neutrals but still wants Arsenal to go out and show them who are really the bosses this season: “It is very romantic and I understand the whole country [being behind them],” the Arsenal manager said. “That is human. I think as well that [the story] is good for football, and it goes against the usual practice in our game, which is spend and buy big stars.

“It is important to know that with quality work, quality scouting and quality management you can have great results.

“Leicester today are in a strong position and they have certainly silenced all the doubters since the start of the season because at Christmas people were saying they would not be there and now we are at Easter and they are still there.

“In the last week they showed they have solid potential to win the league, with two positive results against Liverpool and Manchester City away. Everybody now thinks they are on the same level as everybody else to win it and they have a mathematical advantage of five points.”

“They are certainly more convinced of their quality now,” he said. “When we played them last, they were top of the table so that has not changed but their belief has been strengthened.

“The first game we played against them at Leicester was a very open game and it is true that their strength is to be very quick in transition from defence to offence. But we have to nullify their pace and attacking potential – we want to dominate the game, have the ball and be dangerous.”

This is definitely the match where we have to raise our game to the level we were in our earlier meeting. If we become the only team to do the double over Leicester this season, then I am sure there is no reason why we can’t just go on and win the title. Our time has come!

  1. Wenger needs to drop Giroud for Theo. Believe it or not, Walcott is very influential when playing at CF. During his 8 appearances as CF, Arsenal managed to score 18 goals while also keeping 5 clean sheets. With Theo upfront, this is how we performed against big teams: we scored 5 against Leicester, 3 against Man U and 2 against Bayern. He also seems to have some positive impact on Sanchez’ game if you consider that all EPL goals that Sanchez has this season were scored when Theo was playing upfront.
I understand that he had to be deployed on the wings when Sanchez got injured, but Sanchez is back now, maybe its time Walcott got his preferred position back. Wenger needs to start him, and if it doesn’t work out then he can bring Giroud on early in the second half

    1. It looks like wenger is already getting him (theo) ready for that CF role again, because the 2 games he came on was as a CF, may be just making more hungry before he call on him again. @Gunnerphyte

  2. The only reason I looking forward to this game is that: my Arsenal performs better when they are least expected (back to the wall) #COYG

  3. I have no doubt that we would beat Leciester City. My only fear is our consistency Level. And the gAme against Barcelona Might be morale booster or then other way round.

  4. well! well!! well!!!, off topic. ozil is leaving arsenal fc (ambitionless club) and gooners (ambitionless fans and supporters) by the end of this season

      1. It’s from Marca. It’s a Real Madrid supporting newspaper with less credibility than the Metro when it comes to reporting on football transfers. A look at some of their recent stories from the summer:
        Lewandowski to Real Madrid
        Pedro to Manchester United
        Ronaldo to PSG
        Darmian to Barcelona
        Varane to Manchester United
        Jackson Martinez to Tottenham

    1. Asif he is going to leave the team that wins the Premier Leage and knocks Barcelona out of the Champions League. Some idiots will believe anything!

  5. No chance of winning, no heart no passion worst set of fans (at the stadium stadium that is “libary” ) all this combined plus leicester have all the correct ingrediants team spirit, power pace , BOTTLE Agressiveness.
Deep down we all know we will bottle it as per usual, Wenger will revert bsck to his favourires Mert straight bk in fort he big game(hes already making excuses in press conference to drop gabby) why has campbell been dropped to bench?
    Mert vs vardy lol

Ramsey may have finally against the “mighty Bournemouth got an assist but he’s been utter tripe all season, no excuses about cover now El neny u bought him so bloody play him. If he isn’t good enough why buy him?

    Same old same old sadly
Any sane fan like myself would be wise expect the worst Always anything else is a bonus (our bonuses being 2 players this season cech & ozil) unless they pull something out of bag it’s curtains.

  6. why is Arsenal so good at disappointing and frustrating the home fans at the Emirates?

Sometimes i hate it when we play at the Emirates…..Too many Tea sippers, biscuit eaters, historians and Librarians!

  7. wenger lied ozil that arsenal will be competitive but he refused to show ambitions and failed to motivate his players and so ozil wants to leave in the summer, it won’t be too long before sanchez also decides to leave.

  8. I not surprised Ozil wants ro go.
I’d get p ***** off passing to our crap forward line.
Birds of feather and all that. Apart from Sanchez Ozil is on a different planet. Reminds me of Brady wanting to leave for greener grass.

  9. OMG FELLOW GOONERS..I JUST FOUND THIS IN MARCA NEWSPAPER ( SPAIN) TODAY EDITION.
El Barcelona contacta con su entorno para conocer su situación
    Contacto Özil
El alemán rechaza la oferta de renovación del Arsenal.

IT SAID BARCA IS IN CONTACTS WITH OZIL AS HE REJECTED AN EXTENSION TO HIS CURRENT CONTRACT WITH ARSENAL 🙁

El futbolista tiene la intención de cambiar de aires al final de esta temporada, pero el Arsenal no se lo va a poner nada fácil.

IT SAID , OZIL WANTS TO MOVE TO MORE AMBITIOUS TEAM AND HE WAS PROMISED NEW SIGNINGS TO COMPETE IN EPL AND UCL 🙁

I KNEW IT FROM DAY ONE, THE LACK OF AMBITION FROM ARSENE AND THE BOARD WITH THEIR CHEAPY PLAYERS AND OVER RATTED PART TIME PLAYERS WILL MAKE OUR WORLD CLASS PLAYERS TO GO..I’m dreading Ozil and Alexis will move out at the end of the season or push a move.

THIS HAS MADE MY DAY..THEY HAVE BEEN DECEIVED SO HAVE WE..those supporting Wenger must look at themselves…

  10. @g.rude u t***** how about some fans are just realistic & not blind followers like u, yes I support arsenal but unfortunately just like the rest of the world yes world football knows we are the biggest bottling team out there. Get in Arsenal face & they shot themselves, every team knows this, maybe a Bournemouth at home is a game to be confident about but Leicester I think Ur on your own.
