If you believe the rumours Arsenal are giving Everton a clear path towards hiring Carlo Ancelotti.
I believe the Kroenke family have long proved they have zero ambition but there remains, even on JustArsenal, those who defend Arsenal’s owners.
As owners though this could be their biggest sin yet, one that will come back to haunt them. One that will be their legacy. One that no one can defend.
We know the Italian wants to return to England, owning a property in London.
We need someone who can organise us defensively, something this man has done throughout his career as he has won titles and Champions League’s. We want someone with the personality to handle the pressure of a toxic fan base and a dressing room that seems to lack leadership. This is the man who has coached the likes of Real Madrid.
Even when it comes down to money, Napoli sacked him, giving us the rare chance to get a huge name without having to pay compensation. Yet he seems destined for Merseyside and, apparently, Arsenal’s owners are not standing in his way?
No matter what Ancelotti will say in public, that will be just to appease the Toffees. For all our faults, there is no way someone picks Everton over Arsenal. If he ends up working in Liverpool that’s been our choice and not his.
It seems our criteria is to be going in the opposite direction. Instead of one of the biggest names in the games our preference is someone with zero experience. Do our board really think Arteta can do a better job than Ancelotti or is it simply a case of one being cheaper than the other? That’s why our American owners will have no hiding place if this goes wrong.
If it’s because our former captain has a high reputation in the game and is viewed as the next top manager, then great.
Yet if we are sat here this time next year and Everton are above us, it will be hard not to feel that we just stood still and let this happen.
A bit like Jose joining Spurs.
For all our critics, we are a bigger club then our North London rivals or Everton.

It can’t just be because of the revenue of Champions League Football, because Everton are about to put a package together to get Ancelotti. Something tells me his salary demands are a bit more then what Marco Silva was earning?
Those fanbases have watched their owners show ambition by getting the best possible person, not worrying about budgets or profit like Arsenal’s owners.
I’m sure no millionaire is happy about having to pay to sack employees, then double salaries – but that’s what you do if you remotely care about your club. You take the short financial hit for the sake of success in the long term.
It’s okay for years to be arguing you can’t compete with Man City and Chelsea in terms of transfer fees and wages – but Everton?
We were promised if we left Highbury, we would be able to compete with the likes of Bayern Munich. Now when someone comes for an interview at the Emirates, they find that at Goodison Park you will earn more and have a bigger transfer kitty?
That’s how far we have fallen?
Break down any revenue stream you want, it’s a fact that Everton don’t make more money than us. So, if Silent Stan can’t afford Ancelotti but Farhad Moshiri can, that’s purely out of choice. That’s the same Moshiri who worked for us, but felt forced to walk away because of his peers’ lack of ambition.
It could be as early as this Saturday where we pay for this decision…
