Liverpool make contact with want-away Arsenal star

Liverpool are claimed to have made official contact with Kieran Gibbs over a potential move from Arsenal this summer.

The left-back has fallen out of Arsene Wenger’s first-team plans this season, emphatically favouring Nacho Monreal for the role in the defence.

Gibbs is now believed to be eager on securing an exit in search of regular action, and Arsenal are linked with a number of replacements.

The North-London side are supposedly interested in Celtic’s Kieran Tierney and Leicester City youngster Ben Chilwell, but more recently are claimed to be ready to trigger Ricardo Rodriguez’s release clause of €25 Million. The Wolfsburg full-back is very highly-rated in Germany, and could become our second arrival from the Bundesliga this summer.

For Gibbs however, his future is up-in-the-air currently, but the reported interest from Liverpool could be welcomed.

The Anfield club are in an exciting phase at present, following the arrival of the passionate Jurgen Klopp as manager. The German boss has led his side to two finals in his short stint in charge of the club this season, and is expected to have a positive impact on the future of the side in the coming years.

It is not known whether Arsene Wenger would have a problem with allowing Gibbs to potentially improve Liverpool’s options, while it has become clear that his place at the Emirates is uncertain.

Alberto Moreno would provide the England international competition on Merseyside should he make the switch, and Gibbs would likely seek assurances over game-time, otherwise he would be in a similar boat he had been in with Arsenal this season.

Would you let him join Liverpool this summer? Is he simply not good enough to warrant a place in our squad any longer?
