Liverpool ready to battle for Arsenal’s priority signing

Liverpool are ready to battle with Arsenal for the signature of Alexandre Lacazette this summer.

The French international has emerged as one of the most consistent goalscorers in Europe in recent seasons, and has hinted at a possible move to one of the top leagues on more than one occasion.

Arsenal have been most strongly linked with a move for the striker, with Arsene Wenger believed to have had him watched on a number of occasions, and they are now claimed to have made him their main target this summer.

Liverpool are now in to make a bold bid to bring him to Merseyside however, with the Reds relying strongly on midfielder Roberto Firminho as a false number nine for much of the campaign.

Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are deemed to be in for his signature also, with the former believed to be eyeing a replacement for potential departee Antoine Griezmann.

Should Lacazette adapt to the Premier League as quickly as expected, he could swiftly become a long-term rival for Harry Kane in the goalscoring charts. Alexandre has notched up a huge 87 league goals over the past four season, including the uber-consistent 24 goals in only 27 Ligue 1 appearances this term.

Kylan Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann seem likely to be too expensive, or with too many rivals trying to sign them to realistic expect to strike a deal for them, while I believe Paulo Dybala would only leave Juventus in favour of Barcelona or Real Madrid, which leaves us to look elsewhere.

Lacazette looks like a mature yet young striker who can play at the highest level, and I would certainly be happy to see him play in our famous red next term.

Would you take Lacazette over the alternatives? Should Lukaku be favoured of the Lyon star?

  1. Value for money it has to be Lacazette. They are saying we can get him for around 50mil . Dybala is 80 Lukaku they are talking 70 and Mbappe and Griezmann will probably break the transfer record. So realistically with LeFraud still at the club we won’t be in for the real big money strikers so for me it has to be Lacazette. I think he has everything you need to hit the ground running in the EPL he has been scoring more consistently than the rest off the names on the list

    1. Manu signed Pogba without champions league football.

We won’t get world class players without splashing the cash…………….Now it’s logical.

      1. Didn’t mean to thumb down comment! Let’s hope we do splash the cash regardless of champions league

  2. This is one of the many reasons why I have had it with Wenger. Last year like many years before fans realised that we were crying out for a clinical world class central striker. I guarantee that if we had secured Lacazete last season, we would have been challenging for trophies this season and would therefore not be under threat of losing the likes of Sanchez, Ozil and the Ox. What we got was Perez. Perez, by Wenger’s own admission by not playing him, has been a failure at Arsenal.

Every season under Wenger we are always 2 or 3 players short of what we need. If Wenger stays, I don’t see this transfer window as being any different.

  3. 100% agree…we could have got lacazette last year but no…the deluded one offered less than what west ham offered. Now we would have to pay top dollar to secure him. This happens time and time again…wenger sits on his hands while good prospects slip through his grasp…mbappe, rabiot, aurier, draxler etc etc…the list is endless…. and dont get me started on the suarez fiasco ! This would never have happened under David Dein. Wenger always seems frightened to make a move for prospects and then claims later i nearly signed them after they come good elsewhere. Does he ever take notice of the scouts ffs ?
Btw liked the look of that kid tielemanns of anderlecht the other night…only 19 and was handed armband when captain substituted. Suppose one day wenger will claim he wanted him too…
