Man City win puts pressure on Arsenal but MORE on Liverpool

If Arsenal fans think that the gap between us and the teams at the top of the Premier League table is too large, spare a thought for the poor scousers. In fact, scrap that, let’s laugh at them and make sure the gap does not get any better looking for them after tomorrow’s game at Anfield.

Chelsea do not play until Monday and hopefully they will find the trip to Stoke as unhappy as the Gunners did recently, but Man City have just gone into a 3-0 lead at home against Crystal Palace and that puts the reigning EPL champs level with Jose Mourinho and his players and a hefty 13 points ahead of Arsenal and a massive 18 points ahead of Liverpool.

So while Arsene Wenger will be all too aware that we need to win away tomorrow to avoid being cut adrift before the festive period gets going, he will also realise that there is a whole lot more pressure on the shoulders of Rodgers and his misfiring Reds. That is likely to get even worse as Man United travel to face an Aston Villa side ravaged by the ainjusy and suspension of eight first team players.

They have not got a Champions League double header knockout clash to look forward to and they are in no kind of form despite their win in the Capital One cup this week. Arsenal need to give them no encouragement in front of their home fans, who could well start to turn on the manager and the players if we take an early lead.

  1. The only pressure on us right now is the same pressure for the past 10 years. The pressure to stay close to 4th place, which is Wenger’s ultimate goal. He is in love with mediocrity

  2. The gap between ourselves and liv is the same gap that manc held over us before today. I think this game as it is away is more of a must not lose game, a five point lead is encouraging and should put pressure on the team chasing. Then we can hope for spu falter or Arsenal to really turn up the heat. If we recruit a CB and or CDM i see no reason why we cant or wont finish CL places, in fact i would expect us to take third.

  3. No pressure on us from Man City. We are not league contenders for a number of reasons, and not just because of the point difference.

    1. A sad day indeed. It just seems to be one step forward and two steps back with Arsenal at the moment. I hope we get a world class centre back in January, to get the team an Özil-esque boost if nothing else, though I know the chances of signing anyone over £15m are non existent.

  4. We really shouldn’t be talking about Chelsea and City you know? We should be talking about West Ham, Southampton and Man Utd.

  5. United will probably end up getting their 7th consecutive win. They’ve deserved maybe two or three of them… It’s a cruel game football.

  6. By the way, when did playing Liverpool at Anfield all of a sudden become a very tough fixture for Arsenal? One freak result last year, but they hadn’t beat us at Anfield for about 6 years before that.. We even scored 6 against them in one game. I expect 3 points. No excuses.

  7. Y’all so damn funny………i Love your comments especially the one someone said bout westham worrying him, and the other about the inform spuds
