Manager linked with Arsenal urged by his own player to stay put

Rui Patricio makes it clear he does not want Arsenal target Nuno Santo to leave Wolves.

Arsenal may struggle to name a replacement for Unai Emery when they eventually decide to sack the former PSG boss.
Emery has come under serious pressure to deliver this season as his team continues to struggle.

The Spaniard has been given some games to turn things around or get the sack and there is a widespread belief that he can’t do better than he has done so far.

One man who has been tipped to replace him this week has been Nuno Espirito Santo.

The Portuguese manager led Wolves back into the Premier League last season and they finished inside the top seven on their first campaign back.

They have continued their impressive development under him as they are on the verge of reaching the Europa League’s knockout phase.

Arsenal is reportedly making plans to install him as their next manager, but he has been urged to remain with Wolves by Rui Patricio.

The Wolves goalie insisted that they need their manager to continue their upward development and added that it was important that he didn’t move away.

Patricio said, as per the Metro ‘For the club to develop and become greater it’s not just about the coach but also good staff behind the scenes. We have to work hard as a team and staff.

‘Stability is important at any club. Nuno is an outstanding coach and he’s also a leader. ‘It’s very important to keep Nuno at the club, not only for the players but for the club as well. ‘We have ambitions in this competition.’
