Manager raises doubt in Arsenal and Liverpool stars England places

Jack Wilshere had been tipped as a certainty to make England’s squad for the upcoming Euro 2016 squad, but that has now been put in doubt by Roy Hodgson.

The England boss included the Arsenal midfielder in his provisional 26-man squad for the upcoming tournament, but could still drop Wilshere out of his final 23, which is to be named next week.

Jack is expected to start today’s friendly with Turkey, and will have to reassure Hodgson that he is fully recovered from his injuries to make his official squad.

Roy said: “We need to be convinced they [Wilshere and Henderson] have both fully recovered from serious injuries.

“Jack has been a very important player for us, but he must be the player we know him to be.”

Wilshere missed almost the entire season due to a broken leg, and Hodgson added: “Dave Mackay broke his leg two years in a row and was a star when he came back in his first game afterwards.

“Injuries happen. I’m not bothered by that. The big question is when the player recovers from them.”

The Liverpool midfielder only recently recovered from injury in time to be selected for Hodgson’s provisional squad, and is now in a race against time to prove he is ready to return to action.

England take on Turkey today, before taking on Australia on Friday a matter of days before the England chief has to name his final selections for the tournament.

One of the midfield pair will most likely seal a place on the plane, alongside Eric Dier and Danny Drinkwater, who have both had extremely impressive season’s with their respective club sides.

If Hendo and Jack both prove their fitness, will they both go? Who do you think will miss out?

  1. Jeez Mourinho, Guardiola, Conte, Klopp, Ranieri, Wegner, Bilic

7 into 4 does not go, you do the math

Let’s see if we spend this summer

  2. As much as I want Wilshere to be bubble wrapped, I think he needs to make this squad for some game time towards next season. Yes he can get that in pre-season but there’s nothing better than measuring and improving yourself than actually playing matches.

  3. i HOPE walcott and or OX get sold. They’re in the wrong sport imo and we can use that money to go after Sissoko, rodriguez, Morata and Manolas. They’ve had their chances and they’ve blown it time and time again

  4. He cannot afford to drop their Man of the match of every game before it even begin. #JW10

I think Henderson, delph and Rashford will be dropped.
