Official Arsenal team and preview of Hull FA cup replay

Arsene Wenger has had a lot of juggling to do as he prepared Arsenal for the FA cup 5th round replay at Hull this evening. With fitness and injury concerns as well as balancing the priorities of a third Wembley win on the bounce against the Premier League title challenge, I would not have liked to be in the Frenchman’s place.

From the Arsenal and Hull starting line ups it is clear that Steve Bruce expects his team to be under a lot of pressure as he has gone with a physical and somewhat defensive XI with players like Powell, Huddlestone and Diame and their top scorer of the season Abel Hernandez on the bench.

And even though Arsene Wenger has rested a few big players like Ramsey, Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, the Arsenal team still looks strong and has plenty of attacking flair, with the pace of Walcott, the power of Giroud and the technical ability and energy of Campbell with the very impressive young Alex Iwobi behind them.

The boss has chosen to rest Hector Bellerin entirely and so Chambers comes in at right back and Gibbs replaces Monreal on the other side. No Koscielny of course so Mertesacker and Gabriel continue their pairing with Flamini and Elneny in front of them.

Chambers, Mertesacker, Gabriel, Gibbs
Flamini, Elneny
Walcott, Iwobi, Campbell

Subs: Macey, Monreal, Ramsey, Reine-Adelaide, Willock, Ozil, Sanchez.

  1. Juhislihis McLovin says:

Strong line up. Sanchez and Γ–zil on the bench as well. Hopefully the players will turn up. Next round would be HOME against Watford.

    Let’s go BOYS!

  2. Davros says:

Well the defense is pretty much our starters

Offense I’m not to sure about but hopefully they will do great.

I’m glad to see Campbell and Iwobi in there.

If Theo and Giroud do not play well tonight then Campbell and Welbeck should start against West Bromwich with Alexis and Mesut

Anyway, lets hope for a Win.

    1. Fatboy Gooney says:

      Hahaha… ??
Nothing worse than a proclaimed know it all, knowing jack ?

We will only play WBA at the weekend, If we get knocked out by Hull tonight! … If we win tonight, we will be playing Watford in the next round of the Fa cup, this Weekend!

  3. kabeer says:

    where is welbeck?

    1. ras911 says:

Welbeck’s absence from the bench is worrying me. I hope he is not injured again

    2. captinweestain says:

He’s still unfit, having had months off mate, he said he was shattered against the spuds.
      So no injury scare.

  4. SoOpa AeoN says:

    steady waiting ……..

  5. vijaygunner says:

Line up is similar to Arsenal V Hull at home, no creativity. Maybe ozil and ramsey can come in and change the game.

    1. Nyama tu says:

Please let be just Ozil for now we see how Elneny does.We better win this one and with a large margin

      1. muffdiver says:

        or you’ll what big guy?

throw your nintendo 64 out of bedroom?

  6. Godswill says:

Is Welbeck injured? Am beginning to like him because some others have failed.

  7. Ks-Gunner says:

giroud going 10 games without scoring, says a lot about wenger competence.

i would also like to see jeff play. iwobi was not so good against manure, lets see how he does today.

  8. Kotte says:

Welbeck is definitly injured..i can smell that!

  9. ger burke says:

we got this guys !!!, surely .

  10. Fatboy Gooney says:

    Let the good times… Roll… 5- Nil… to the Arsenal ?

    1. ArseOverTit says:

  11. frogarsenal says:

    Why Flamini???

  12. Ks-Gunner says:

    chambers looks fit and fine

    1. ArseOverTit says:

      Steady on!

      1. Juhislihis McLovin says:

He looks like he’s gotten tons of confidence.

  13. ArseOverTit says:

    Re-Per needed!

  14. Goonsquad8 says:

Come on BFG we need you

  15. HA559 says:

Now there’s something you thought you’d never see. A clash of head involving Mertesacker. I can’t remember the last time this happened.

  16. Dennis says:

This team is so out of sync right now. They can’t string one successful play together that leads to a shot on goal, that should be very worrying imo. What are they learning in training if players don’t know each other’s movements yet, or their roles in the team?

  17. ArseOverTit says:

    Dull as dishwater..
    Anything else on the box?

  18. Juhislihis McLovin says:

Giroud 760 minutes without goal. That is devastating considering he was to lead our attack in the “title hunt”

  19. JAmerican says:

I wonder where our goals are coming from today?

    1. ArseOverTit says:

      1. JAmerican says:

    2. Mick The Gooner says:

Own goal has been on quite the barren run since the beginning of the season. Used to be our top scorer. Should come good again soon.

  20. ras911 says:

We need to score a goal in order to open up the game! Otherwise Hull will just sit back, defend and counter which will tire us out eventually and may cause our players to be mistake prone.

  21. Juhislihis McLovin says:

Sub Giroud off already. We are playing with 10 men when he’s on.

    1. muffdiver says:

      if hes a ghost
      what the hell is theo….

when he touches the ball i do a solo mexican wave….there goes 20 grand….another 20…
yes theo…ur earning this money son

      1. Juhislihis McLovin says:

Theo is invisible. Giroud is garbage. Lovely choice to pick

      2. McGUNNER says:

        Bout time ollie

        1. Juhislihis McLovin says:

I take my words back. LOL what a goal.

      3. ArseOverTit says:

Did you see that Β£140k a week corner!?

Impressive it was. Missed everyone and went out for a goal kick.

        1. muffdiver says:

10 thousand for each yard it went towards space

  22. Mick The Gooner says:

Lol if we play Barcelona with Ospina in goal with Chambers and Gabriel as our centre backs.

    1. Goonsquad8 says:

      We’ll win 3-0

  23. Ronny331 says:

Yawn! Side til side and side to side. Giroud get in the box and knock the ball down for runners. We’ll need ozil/sanchez to win this game I feel.

  24. BUR says:

I have seen better defending in a primary school yard.

  25. BUR says:

    Thank goodness Gerioud

  26. Davros says:

We need to start Danny against West Bromwich instead of Giroud unless Giroud starts scoring (Danny has scored 2 goals recently)

    We lack creativity too.
It’s tough to tell where goals will come from. Who knows maybe an unlikely source like Eleney, Campbell, Iwobi, Flamini

  27. Ronny331 says:

Finally he scores and it took a gift

  28. Goonsquad8 says:

  29. Ronny331 says:

    Meyler taken a bung? Lol

  30. Twig says:

I miss Podolski’s shoot at sight policy πŸ™

  31. ras911 says:

Thank you Giroud!!! Exactly what we needed! Now they’ll push out more and as long as we can defend well and continue to put pressure upfront we got this!

  32. McGUNNER says:

    Gibbs crossbar lol

  33. muffdiver says:

    DAVID MEYLER- what a passsss!!!

im naming my tenth born david!

    1. McGUNNER says:

@muffdiver why not name your tenth born theo he can make thousands a week for doing F all

  34. captinweestain says:

Walcott missing again, he runs away from the ball.
He’s still hans’t got a football brain IMO.

    1. muffdiver says:

after 10 years no football brain indeed

read ian wrights story on theo- he was never gonna be great

    2. ArseOverTit says:

      Great at counting though!

      1. captinweestain says:

        1,2,3,4 we need goals bro
        He’s …just a sprinter

    3. ras911 says:

Nah Walcott is just in a bad place and VERY out of form right now. We’ve all seen him make great runs and score great goals before. Dry spells and lack of confidence happen to most players. Look at Hazard for example, from being the best in the EPL last year to being a shell of his past self this season. It’s sad but it happens.

      1. McGUNNER says:

When has Walcott ever done anything like hazard at his best….. As everyone keeps saying it’s been 10 years

        1. ras911 says:

Never said Walcott was ever as good as Harazad. My point is that we all know he can be a good player and score goals and he’s been unable to do so lately because of his bad form. Let’s not pretend Walcott has been Sh*t for 10 years please. He’s been mostly injured and had some dry spells, that’s all.

      2. muffdiver says:

@oh ras , u dont realise hes only had one season where he showed slight consistency- not every game but his stats showed he could be handy

        IN TEN DUDE –

        1 in 10!!!

thats a sucky ratio in any situation! stop it now bro

  35. Juhislihis McLovin says:

WTF is Walcott trying to do

    1. captinweestain says:

Run away from the ball ?

  36. JAmerican says:

No reason for Walcott to be at this club beyond this summer. NO REASON!!!

    1. ras911 says:

      none? Really?

  37. McGUNNER says:

Theo still trying to reach his potential.. Ten years later..

    1. Juhislihis McLovin says:

I don’t understand. He has gone BACKWARDS in his development.

Horrible half. Take Elneny off, I feel like he’s one tackle away from getting red carded (he hasn’t made any tackles though)

  38. captinweestain says:

Hope we sign Draxler next season. We need some goals

    1. muffdiver says:

no chance hes vital for wolfsburg
we had our shot when he was at schalke

      1. captinweestain says:

We gave them Lord Bendtner though ? Surely that will soften the deal πŸ˜›

        1. muffdiver says:

          gives a strong word.

when you have sanogo on one side an diaby on the other both holding baseball bats at the gates…
would u say no to bentdner

    2. Ks-Gunner says:

      special player

  39. Ronny331 says:

Anne me yang for Walcott +15/20k worth it? It’s so sad all the tools to be fierce, (pace and acceleration) but so so poor. He just spend some time with the likes of Henry etc. Looks like he’s never been coached.

  40. Ks-Gunner says:

when was the last time we could just go in and smash our opponents. silly mistake, the only chance, a gift from them and we scored.

    first chance goal

  41. Fatboy Gooney says:

Right now. … I would swap Theo for a packet of Walkers!
    …. Ready Salted, if possible! .. ?.. Whats that Gary? … His only worth half a packet? ? ? ? ?

    1. Juhislihis McLovin says:

      Kyle Walkers? White Walkers?

      1. Fatboy Gooney says:

        Walker’s Crisp’s!… Gary Linekar! .. don’t worry about it! ?

  42. Ronny331 says:

That was meant to read aubameyang and mill not K πŸ™‚

  43. captinweestain says:

Cmon, give us something Arsenal. This is well boring ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

    1. muffdiver says:

      u got a goal thru a mistake-

      1. captinweestain says:

Might open a tin of paint, see which is more fun.

        1. Goonsquad8 says:

dude just stop your the same lot who complain when we don’t see out wins and your the same lot calling for mourinho and simeone whose ENTIRE game is boring 1-0 jesus

          1. captinweestain says:

            Glad i’m not there

          2. muffdiver says:

            dude we joke alot.

goon im tellin u this alot chilllllllllllllllllllllll

          3. Goonsquad8 says:

YOU joke a lot and your still half serious every joke has truth to it all these other people are not kidding

          4. captinweestain says:

I’m not kidding, you know me so well. This game is still boring

          5. muffdiver says:

ok dude, dont want no beef.
            love you all the same

            u angry sexy beast you

          6. Goonsquad8 says:

stop it your embarrassing me πŸ™‚

          7. captinweestain says:

He’s my angry sexy beast, hands off!

  44. captinweestain says:

    Hell no, no more injuries

  45. Goonsquad8 says:

    is this serious?

  46. Juhislihis McLovin says:

Gabriel, Koscielny and Mertesacker all injured hahahahah

    1. captinweestain says:

Just come back of the toilet (thought i’d have mre fun there) how he get injured ?
      Not bad is it?
      I knew

      1. Juhislihis McLovin says:

        Now Ramsey is out injured.

Gabriel’s injury looks bad. Probably reoccurring hamstring

    2. ArseOverTit says:

Let’s give Barca a fighting chance!

  47. Twig says:

Gooooooaaaal! Theo Walcott! What a strike. Haters take that.

    Arsenal 7 Newcastle 3

  48. McGUNNER says:

My God we are going to need defenders in on loan at this rate

  49. Ronny331 says:

By the time we play barca Steve bould will be playing cb, what a mess.

    1. ras911 says:

      lmfaooo best comment

  50. ras911 says:

Sooooooo we don’t have any CBs LOL. Interesting season so far

  51. ArseOverTit says:

Is Theo wearing a black arm band in memory of the death of his career or is he captain?

  52. nygooner says:

2 CBs go down within 1 hour. Just comical stuff. You can’t make this up!

  53. captinweestain says:

I would have laughed if that went in. Seriously i’m out of tears.

  54. Ronny331 says:

Elneny and Ramsey in front of a makeshift back four equaliser coming? πŸ™

  55. muffdiver says:

    mo diame…bloody hell….i rmember him!!!

someone here said he found god and started working at morrisons!!!

  56. captinweestain says:

      itching to watch!

      1. Goonsquad8 says:

how about el tico! i love him

  64. Dennis says:

  65. Goonsquad8 says:

THEO!! exactly what we needed boys giroud 2 goals, walcott goal and assist, 3 goals scored this should do good for our confidence!

  66. ras911 says:

Well done Walcott, much needed confidence booster

  67. captinweestain says:

    Thats my Arsenal πŸ™‚

  68. ArseOverTit says:

Taken like Henry! Well done Theo.

  69. Ronny331 says:

Do any of our players stretch and warm up? Watford rubbing their hands!

    1. Budd says:

Was no time for proper stretching. What stretching can you do in 1 minute? All our subs were not tactical, they came as results of injuries.

  70. ras911 says:

Give credit where it’s due. Well played Iwobi, good goal Walcott. 4 goals between the players we criticized the most. Well done lads.

  71. Juhislihis McLovin says:

First time we scored over 3 goals since Leicester away!

  72. captinweestain says:

Rubbish 1st half, came alive in the 2nd just when we need it.
3 injuries though, i just can’t get my head around that πŸ™

  73. Bigvalbowski says:

Mo Sala from Roma couldn’t score if he was in a Madrid brothel.

Never seen a dude choke so many glorious scoring opportunities in both Champions League legs.

Madrid should be on the ropes
