Official Arsenal team and preview of Hull FA cup replay

Arsene Wenger has had a lot of juggling to do as he prepared Arsenal for the FA cup 5th round replay at Hull this evening. With fitness and injury concerns as well as balancing the priorities of a third Wembley win on the bounce against the Premier League title challenge, I would not have liked to be in the Frenchman’s place.

From the Arsenal and Hull starting line ups it is clear that Steve Bruce expects his team to be under a lot of pressure as he has gone with a physical and somewhat defensive XI with players like Powell, Huddlestone and Diame and their top scorer of the season Abel Hernandez on the bench.

And even though Arsene Wenger has rested a few big players like Ramsey, Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, the Arsenal team still looks strong and has plenty of attacking flair, with the pace of Walcott, the power of Giroud and the technical ability and energy of Campbell with the very impressive young Alex Iwobi behind them.

The boss has chosen to rest Hector Bellerin entirely and so Chambers comes in at right back and Gibbs replaces Monreal on the other side. No Koscielny of course so Mertesacker and Gabriel continue their pairing with Flamini and Elneny in front of them.

Ospina
Chambers, Mertesacker, Gabriel, Gibbs
Flamini, Elneny
Walcott, Iwobi, Campbell
Giroud

Subs: Macey, Monreal, Ramsey, Reine-Adelaide, Willock, Ozil, Sanchez.

  1. Strong line up. Sanchez and Özil on the bench as well. Hopefully the players will turn up. Next round would be HOME against Watford.

    Let’s go BOYS!

  2. Well the defense is pretty much our starters

Offense I’m not to sure about but hopefully they will do great.

I’m glad to see Campbell and Iwobi in there.

If Theo and Giroud do not play well tonight then Campbell and Welbeck should start against West Bromwich with Alexis and Mesut

Anyway, lets hope for a Win.

    1. Hahaha… ??
Nothing worse than a proclaimed know it all, knowing jack ?

We will only play WBA at the weekend, If we get knocked out by Hull tonight! … If we win tonight, we will be playing Watford in the next round of the Fa cup, this Weekend!

    1. He’s still unfit, having had months off mate, he said he was shattered against the spuds.
      So no injury scare.

  3. Line up is similar to Arsenal V Hull at home, no creativity. Maybe ozil and ramsey can come in and change the game.

  4. giroud going 10 games without scoring, says a lot about wenger competence.

i would also like to see jeff play. iwobi was not so good against manure, lets see how he does today.

  5. Now there’s something you thought you’d never see. A clash of head involving Mertesacker. I can’t remember the last time this happened.

  6. This team is so out of sync right now. They can’t string one successful play together that leads to a shot on goal, that should be very worrying imo. What are they learning in training if players don’t know each other’s movements yet, or their roles in the team?

  7. Giroud 760 minutes without goal. That is devastating considering he was to lead our attack in the “title hunt”

    1. Own goal has been on quite the barren run since the beginning of the season. Used to be our top scorer. Should come good again soon.

  8. We need to score a goal in order to open up the game! Otherwise Hull will just sit back, defend and counter which will tire us out eventually and may cause our players to be mistake prone.

    1. if hes a ghost
      what the hell is theo….

when he touches the ball i do a solo mexican wave….there goes 20 grand….another 20…
yes theo…ur earning this money son

      1. Did you see that £140k a week corner!?

Impressive it was. Missed everyone and went out for a goal kick.

  9. Lol if we play Barcelona with Ospina in goal with Chambers and Gabriel as our centre backs.

  10. Yawn! Side til side and side to side. Giroud get in the box and knock the ball down for runners. We’ll need ozil/sanchez to win this game I feel.

  11. We need to start Danny against West Bromwich instead of Giroud unless Giroud starts scoring (Danny has scored 2 goals recently)

    We lack creativity too.
It’s tough to tell where goals will come from. Who knows maybe an unlikely source like Eleney, Campbell, Iwobi, Flamini

  12. Thank you Giroud!!! Exactly what we needed! Now they’ll push out more and as long as we can defend well and continue to put pressure upfront we got this!

  13. Walcott missing again, he runs away from the ball.
He’s still hans’t got a football brain IMO.

    1. after 10 years no football brain indeed

      lol

read ian wrights story on theo- he was never gonna be great

    2. Nah Walcott is just in a bad place and VERY out of form right now. We’ve all seen him make great runs and score great goals before. Dry spells and lack of confidence happen to most players. Look at Hazard for example, from being the best in the EPL last year to being a shell of his past self this season. It’s sad but it happens.

        1. Never said Walcott was ever as good as Harazad. My point is that we all know he can be a good player and score goals and he’s been unable to do so lately because of his bad form. Let’s not pretend Walcott has been Sh*t for 10 years please. He’s been mostly injured and had some dry spells, that’s all.

      1. @oh ras , u dont realise hes only had one season where he showed slight consistency- not every game but his stats showed he could be handy

        IN TEN DUDE –

        1 in 10!!!

thats a sucky ratio in any situation! stop it now bro

    1. I don’t understand. He has gone BACKWARDS in his development.

Horrible half. Take Elneny off, I feel like he’s one tackle away from getting red carded (he hasn’t made any tackles though)

        1. gives a strong word.

when you have sanogo on one side an diaby on the other both holding baseball bats at the gates…
would u say no to bentdner

  14. Anne me yang for Walcott +15/20k worth it? It’s so sad all the tools to be fierce, (pace and acceleration) but so so poor. He just spend some time with the likes of Henry etc. Looks like he’s never been coached.

  15. when was the last time we could just go in and smash our opponents. silly mistake, the only chance, a gift from them and we scored.

    first chance goal

  16. Right now. … I would swap Theo for a packet of Walkers!
    …. Ready Salted, if possible! .. ?.. Whats that Gary? … His only worth half a packet? ? ? ? ?

  17. Cmon, give us something Arsenal. This is well boring ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

        1. dude just stop your the same lot who complain when we don’t see out wins and your the same lot calling for mourinho and simeone whose ENTIRE game is boring 1-0 jesus

          1. Get lost, i hate Maureen, sorry mate but this game is boring.
            Glad i’m not there

          2. you believe in jesus?
            dude we joke alot.

goon im tellin u this alot chilllllllllllllllllllllll

            1. @Muff
YOU joke a lot and your still half serious every joke has truth to it all these other people are not kidding

    1. Just come back of the toilet (thought i’d have mre fun there) how he get injured ?
      Not bad is it?
      I knew

      1. @captinweestain,

        Now Ramsey is out injured.

Gabriel’s injury looks bad. Probably reoccurring hamstring

  18. Is Theo wearing a black arm band in memory of the death of his career or is he captain?

  19. mo diame…bloody hell….i rmember him!!!

someone here said he found god and started working at morrisons!!!

    LIAR!!!!1

  20. GOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

  21. THEO!! exactly what we needed boys giroud 2 goals, walcott goal and assist, 3 goals scored this should do good for our confidence!

    1. Was no time for proper stretching. What stretching can you do in 1 minute? All our subs were not tactical, they came as results of injuries.

  22. Give credit where it’s due. Well played Iwobi, good goal Walcott. 4 goals between the players we criticized the most. Well done lads.

  23. Rubbish 1st half, came alive in the 2nd just when we need it.
3 injuries though, i just can’t get my head around that 🙁

  24. OT

Mo Sala from Roma couldn’t score if he was in a Madrid brothel.

Never seen a dude choke so many glorious scoring opportunities in both Champions League legs.

Madrid should be on the ropes
