Official teams and preview of Arsenal v Besiktas

This is the biggest game of the season so far for Arsenal, with the winner taking a place at the top table of European club football and the loser getting their midweeks off for the next few months. A 0-0 draw with Besiktas in Turkey leaves the Gunners slight favourites with tonightโ€™s match at the Emirates, but the away goal situation does leave us in danger.

And a harsh red card for Aaron Ramsey last week combined with the ankle injury picked up by Olivier Giroud at the weekend, means that two of our biggest goal threats are not going to be on the pitch. Even so, Wenger has resisted starting with the German striker Lukas Podolski and stuck with Santi Cazorla on the left and gone for the pace of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the right.

Alexis Sanchez gets another chance through the middle and we need him to do better than the first half at Everton. The good news is that we have our first choice central defensive pairing of Mertesacker and Koscielny back, which will hopefully mean a clean sheet as a platform for an Arsenal win.

Szczesny
Debuchy, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal
Flamini, Wilshere
Chamberlain, Ozil, Cazorla
Alexis

subs: Martinez, Chambers, Coquelin, Rosicky, Podolski, Sanogo, Campbell

So there are plenty of attacking options available on the Arsenal bench. Letโ€™s hope it is enoughโ€ฆ

    1. If that goal turns out to be the winner, sanchez might have repaid his transfer fee!!!

  1. That’s the perfect thing that could happen. Besiktas will have to come out and attack properly now and we can catch them on the break where there will be more space for our creative players to use.

  2. At least Sanchez does not need to wait anymore for the first goal. That monkey is off his back

Now Sanchez will show the PL what he can do

  3. Lets score one more and then kill the game off by keeping and passing the ball around. I do not want a spectacular victory, just a victory.

  4. i want the champions league trophy now ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™
ive purchased the new arsenal puma jacket ive made my contribution to the club i have the right to demand the trophy ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™

    1. dude stop saying u bought a jacket. i been buying arsenal kits since 91.

your 40 pound doesnt mean sh*t

  5. Well thats what I call a bench to rotate! I dont get why everybody wants to get rid of Podolski the guy is very good coming off the bench and we need that deep at the squad at the moment! COYG!!!

  6. Keep composure and the Turks will lose their marbles. They are already on 2 yellows.

    Nothing’s won yet, keep attacking!

  7. I wonder if this game can be the catalyst to make Wilshere, Ozil and Sanchez perform at their top level. With Walcott coming back to training next week, I see good things our way

  8. Cavani and another man was seen, according to reports, in the airport. Rumours are the Uruguayan, who is believed to …

Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger is interested in signing a 34 year old Eastern European Birmingham City reject on a free. Yossi Benayoun played a crucial part in getting us into the top four the season we loaned him from Chelsea, he scored decisive goals in the last games of the campaign and stopped us finishing below Spurs. Gary McAllister was another veteran in a pasture when he was snatched up by Benitez. He went on to be the reason the bin dippers won a treble that season. I have a feeling this 6’8″ player coming in is going to play his socks of to earn himself another season long contract next Summer. he can also be handy at both ends with set pieces.

  9. We just seem fragmented though. Every game! What’s with that? Is it cos everyone is out of position?

    1. Soorry that wasn’t a respond too that (the shot) i think its playing ozil on the left, our record singing playing out of postion

  10. flamini was good until the 60 min mark where most of his mistakes starts happening.

once again proven wilshere and ramsey can’t play together, they’re too similar at the moment.

  11. Alexis Sanchez work rate is just ridiculous… I mean, when he gets fit, he will lethal.

IT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY L’EQUIPE MAGAZINE: GIROUD WILL BE OUT FOR 4 MONTHS A LEAST. ACCORDING TO THEIR INFORMATIONS, HE WILL BE BACK IN 2015.

Can someone tell Wenger that he can still bring substitutes in the game… it is allowed!!!!

    1. how poor has he been today! just atrocious..just do not understand why we don’t play a proper winger?

  12. yellow for sczsesny. this ref is probably one of the worst we have come across. what a total C##t

    1. Yes, would be very welcomed. But, common we are after Zigic, the big man, the hold up sh$$t

  13. monreal put in a very good performance, i generally am critical, but he looks better to me ladt two matches, his excellent cross to giroud to tie everton, and his energy, tackling and tracking in the last 15″ of this match! COYG!!!

    1. Yeah, I thought he was improved too.
Ox needs to sharpen up,,,was sloppy in second half, not even counting that miss.

      Anyway…..Signings now???

  14. Did anybody else think that Debuchy was about to headbutt the sh*t out of the ref when he sent him off, it looked to me like the ref even stuck his head in aswell to say “I ain’t no Pus*y!”

  15. yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
so proud to be a gunnerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  16. AW owes the players big time after this performance..get some fu*king quality in the squad now ! COYG!

  17. Mersin for manager lol
He said the fans pay a lot of money now go and spend that money on a top striker

  18. Nice goal and workrate from sanchez tonyt. Personally, i think we would have gotten more than a goal if our forwards were a bit selfish with their play.
We kept looking for the perfect goal when we could have just had a crack at goal.
I think if we want to increase our goal tally this season we shld shoot more and leave the beautiful goals till we are 2 goals up.
