One bold prediction for Arsenal game v Watford

Arsenal travels to Vicarage Road on Sunday to face off against struggling Watford and there could be one big surprise for Arsenal fans.

I am predicting that we will see Rob Holding named in the matchday squad and an outside chance of him seeing action late on, though that depends on how the game is going.

Holding has been sidelined since suffering a serious knee injury last December against Man Utd and has fought his way back to full fitness, he has already featured numerous times for the U23 side and is back in full training with the senior team.

Arsenal will be careful with the 23-year-old, they will not rush him back and a start this weekend is out of the question but inclusion in the matchday squad is a strong possibility.

It has felt like he has been injured forever and with Hector Bellerin and Kieran Tierney also sidelined it has been frustrating to see so many quality defenders out while the first team has struggled defensively.

It is still early days but seeing the young centre-back on the verge of being called up to the senior team is a massive boost, not just for the player and club but for the fans as well.

Long term injuries aside, Unai Emery will have a full-strength squad to choose from, all players have returned from international duty injury-free according to the club, though there will be last-minute assessments on certain players including Nicolas Pepe, who has been focussing on regaining full fitness.

  1. Santasplash says:

I would love to see holding in the starting xi against Watford. He is our only hope in this defensive crisis

  2. Eduardo Watkins says:

Unai must consider Bellerin, Holding, Chambers and Tierney un defensive positions. Torreira Gounduzzi and Ceballos like miedfildiers and Peppe, Auba and Lecazzette un the ofende. Nexth year Arsenal would buy Upamecano, Ceballos and Zaha and would sell Mustafi, Sokratis, Xhaka and Lecazzette. If the Germán club santa Jules Rowe as part of the del foro Upamecano, vive him

    1. gotanidea says:

      Selling Lacazette??

I just saw Bellerin on the latest Arsenal Youtube video. He can still sprint very fast, despite running without ball

      1. Luckyville says:

Tierney trained with the first team squad today also alongside Bellerin. that’s good news all-round.

  3. RSH says:

either Frankfurt or Nottingham Forest game I think we will see him start. I doubt Emery will see the need to rush him back in immediately. Though he does need to start tinkering with our CB’s soon beacause Sokratis and Luiz is not a good partnership.

  4. Tony gunner says:

good to know arsenal is now at his best level!!!

  5. El kaissi says:

I watched the relationship between Belerin Ceballos and Kiran and yeah thats good spirit and will definitely help the dude settle in faster. I really can’t wait to have them on the pitch playing along side one another. If they all click in the defensive department and Emery gets his selection right I think there’s a need to be optimistic. Belerin sprints fine and is better than Niles in that position, Kiran sprints fine too. And with Holdings partnering Socratis again, I see Joyous moments to come for us… COYG

  6. Agu Emen says:

Once we we had a very strong 7 man defensive unit.
    Bellerin Mertz Kos Monreal
    Coquelin Cazorla
In front of them we had the worlds best assist maker Ozil.
A club of Arsenal’standing would find three top class attackers and surge to the title and uplift the CL right?
No instead we went with a slew of clumsy klutzs.
Giroud Ramsey Walcott Iwobi Gnabry Campbell Podolski
Girvinho Sanogo Perez Wellbeck Asano Miyaichi.
One or two had a decent season or so but overall this bunch
were the cr#p de la cr#p of European/African/Asian football.
Arsenal turning ingots of gold into bales of straw… legendary.
Surprisingly none of them were nominated for Balon d’or.

  7. Agu Emen says:

Pinning out hopes on a lightly tried Holding just back
from injury seems rather hopeful/bizarre or typical.
Sideshow Dave and WWE Socrates are entertaining.
Chambers the 8th year apprentice “needs more time” and along with
Mavro what’s his name who also “needs more time” will be allowed to play easy teams like Forest,Standard Leige and Vitoria.
Our big hope of course is 19 year old Saliba but his contribution
to our success will be limited owing to him playing in France this season as we pay off his fee in 500 quid weekly installments.
Emery must come in to work thinking why did I sign up
for this nut job club..oh I remember now “the all year sun”.

    1. Phil says:

And the £6m a year salary-that might just have had something to do with it

  8. Kenya 001 says:

It’s always good to see players coming back from injury. I hope no set backs though! We need them fit
