Opinion – Don’t bring Ancelotti to Arsenal, we need a youth-oriented coach

Carlo Ancelotti to Arsenal? We need younger coaches please. by Lagos Gooner

Here we go ahead; the media is so good at throwing any name at Arsenal at this searching period and expect us to just sit down, appreciate their good gesture, right? Wrong! Ancelotti to Arsenal is not a move I expect Arsenal to make, please.

I was reading through the papers last Friday and while every news site reported the sack of Emery as coach of Arsenal, a whole lot started predicting names that will be hired as the next coach of Arsenal. Others just inform about people who are considered by the club as the next Arsenal coach.

According to the Telegraph.co.uk, Ancelotti is one of the candidates being considered by Arsenal to replace Unai Emery. According to them, the only stumbling block is his annual salary demand, which is apparently fairly above what Emery earned at Arsenal.

The 60-year-old is currently contracted to Napoli until the summer of 2021. But even he is enduring his own struggles in Serie A with his side also on a run of seven games without a win.

His side finished second in his first season in charge, but they currently sit seventh with five wins from their opening 13 matches.

Morale among the squad is thought to be at an all-time low after they were heavily fined for refusing to attend a retreat in the aftermath of the 1-1 home draw with Red Bull Salzburg.

Now, why would Arsenal fire a coach who has been underperforming and go and appoint a coach who is also struggling with his team in Italy? This is not logical, is it?

At 60 years of age, Arsenal will do well to look away from Ancelotti and rather look towards the directions of coachs who are within the 30-50 age brackets. We need a youth-oriented coach whose ideology can align with the youthful players he would have at Arsenal.

Ancelotti has managed top clubs in Europe and this will speak well for him in this selection process but then, how many more years of coaching does he have in him? Will he be like a friend or like a father to the players?

What I am really trying to say here is that we need to consider many factors; and not just one or two factors before hiring a coach. Am I asking for too much, or do you think we should bring the likes of Ancelotti to Arsenal?
