Arsenal’s Calum Chambers is reported to be closing on a loan move to Watford this summer.
The defender has struggled to break into Arsene Wenger’s first-team plans this season, and despite his versatility, only started two Premier League matches.
Arsenal are expected to bring in further options in defence this summer, which will make it even harder for the England international to feature under Wenger next term. Now Chambers is believed to be in line to join the Hornets next for the upcoming campaign.
Watford would not mean the former Southampton youth product would have to travel far, with Vicaeidge Road sitting less than 20 miles away from the Emirates.
The Hornets had Nathan Ake on loan from Chelsea this season, and will need to bring in a defender to cover from the young Dutchman. The Blues have incoming boss Antonio Conte set to join the fold following the European Championships this summer, and Ake’s future is up in the air at present.
Chambers has been linked with a possible switch back to Southampton this summer, but a move to Watford appears more likely at present.
The 21 year-old was the club’s fourth-choice centre-back this year, and while Per Mertesacker is not 100% certain to stay on at the club, a defender is firmly expected to be brought into the fold.
I’m in favour of sending Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out on loan for the current season also, with the midfielder struggling to break into the first-team also this season.
Will Chambers live up to his potential and earn a regular role at Arsenal in the future? Is Watford ideal to help him develop?
Poor lad, I thought that Southampton would have been the ideal place for him, maybe that fell through due to the reports of Koeman being tempted with a move to Everton?
Palace were also interested in loaning Chambers,
Anyways, Goodluck to him, Where ever he goes, Just hope that wenger installs a call back clause, just incase!
Cos, you never know ?⚽

OT… I hope Wenger doesn’t sign anyone from Leicester city because it would take the shine off any victory of us comes may.
admin why is my comment awaiting for moderation?

Palace would be a good deal because Pulis knows how to turn defenders into beasts
How embarrassing I still thought Pulis was Palace manager.
Hahaha ? Don’t worry about it,
it wasn’t half as embarrassing as Vardy turning Arsenal down, in tweeter fashion.
Some fan’s are probably praying that it was Vardy’s wife that was messing around, with his tweeter account! ?
and that he will be taking his medical in France.
Hahaha. .. Keep your fingers crossed boy’s,
The next 48 hours are crucial ????
And Yes!… I was being sarcastic! ?
Has Arsenal fallen to this level where players cannot join from Leicester
It just means Vardy wants to be a big fish in a small pond, at Arsenal we are used to seeing proper footballing genius. Maybe he feels like a god over there and doesn’t want to take the risk of moving to a big club. This could be a reason if he refuses, but I still think he’d be a fool not to move. His advisors will help him make the best choice, and at Arsenal is where his stock could soar, so I see the move happening. Unless his advisors are idiots.
Have to disagree can’t see him starting at cb with Southampton.
Watford is agood move they did well with ake and our own bellerin
Whatever transpire in the summer, with calum chambers, best of luck to him!
