Ox hands Arsenal BIG injury boost for new year

While Arsenal fans should not have given up hope of the Premier League title yet, just because two defeats have left us with a nine point gap to make up on Chelsea, we could really do with someone halting the momentum of Antonio ConteĀ“s side as soon as possible.

At the same time we are all very much aware that the Gunners must go on a winning run ourselves. Unfortunately for Arsene Wenger he is having to cope with the usual lengthy Arsenal injury list, so any positive news on that front is very welcome and when it is about a player in form as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been of late it is an even bigger boost.

I for one was a worried Gooner after the Ox picked up a hamstring problem during the defeat at Man City as it could have kept him out for weeks and there would be no guarantee he would come back in the same form, but with the Evening Standard reporting that he will be back in action as soon as the home game against Crystal Palace on new years day, we should have no such problem.

That extra attacking option could prove crucial as Arsenal seek to get back to winning ways and stay there, so is this injury news just the christmas present Arsenal needed?

  1. if it’s not Mustafi or Cazorla returning it’s not a significant boost… Ox was a flop in the last game he started vs Everton.

  2. i think that the ox had been given many chances to prove himself = a real flop = not worthy to wear the arsenal jersey – gooner for ever

  3. I agree with the first comment. We desperately need Cazorla and Mustafi. We win with our first team intact : Cech, Bellerin, Koscielny, Mustafi, Monreal, Cazorla, Coquelin, Ozil, Alexis, Theo

We have been let down by many of our backups who have been poor to average : ie. Gabriel, Jenkinson, Eleney, Iwobi, Ox and Ramsey.

Really our most consistent player has been Alexis

Need a lot of changes in the summer with our backups. The bench is very important during the season and needs strengthening

You cannot win the league with low quality bench players as you cannot expect your starters to play every match

  4. I think people are being a bit unfair on Ox – his biggest problem is consistency and sometimes he is a true game changer. There is no doubt he is talented, he just needs to show it on a more regular basis. Gary Neville came up with an interesting argument as to why we were so abysmal in the last two games, he thought the team had been told to go one ahead and hold onto the lead a la Chelski, but because we are unused to playing in that way, we ran far too much and became tired. He bore it out with stats, that showed our passing and possession was well below average Arsenal stats, whereas our distance run was well above. If that is the case, then it come must from the manager, although I was skeptical, as no one would be as daft to against the natural way we play …. would they?

  5. Maybe if he stays longer perez whom I believe is better than him would get a chance to play. He should stay a little bit longer as long as perez himself stays fit.

  6. he’s not good enough to have a new contract offer, nor to start for us. Along with Walcott, another inconsistent player that we are waiting to finally step up.
