Ozil talks confirmed – but will Arsenal pay him £200k per week?

Ozil wants to extend his contract!

There had been concerns earlier in the summer that Ozil was becoming frustrated with Arsenal’s lack of ambition, both on the pitch and off it regarding transfers. However it’s clear to me that the German international has enjoyed his time at Arsenal, despite a lack of major honours and that his only vision right now is to continue with Arsenal, in an attempt to return the glory days to the Gunners.

Ozil spoke in an interview about his future and was keen to suggest that he was willing to enter negotiations with Arsenal. Ozil said: “I have a contract until 2018. We have had discussions, but they were suspended for the European Championship. I wanted to focus at this time only on the national team. Now we look to continue the negotiations.”

It seems as if Mesut Ozil truly is warming to the club as a part of a ‘family’, as so many players before him have also said. Ozil is big fan of living in London, as he has said in previous interviews and he relishes to be competing in arguably the most competitive domestic league there is. The mood between the players seems to be strong and although I’m sure they can become frustrated at Arsenal lack of ambition at times, they gel well to work together as a team. Ozil is so important to the Arsenal that it’s vital that with any luck, his contract is extended to at least three years, meaning his next deal wouldn’t be set to expire until he’s 30 years old.

Hopefully negotiations go well between all parties and that if there are disagreements, that it doesn’t take effect on the pitch. Ozil is supposedly rumoured to be holding out for around £200k per week according to some reports, however this remains unconfirmed. If such wage is the case, it may go against Arsenal’s usual proceedings, however given the state of money in today’s game, it may be something Arsenal will have to offer if they want to keep hold of the club’s star man.
