Pepe will not play against Barcelona but Torreira may feature

Arsenal has named their 21 man travelling squad for tonight’s game against Barcelona at the Nou Camp.

Nicolas Pepe has not been included and neither has Alexandre Lacazette but Lucas Torreira is back following his break after international duty.

Another player that is absent is Alex Iwobi and of course Rob Holding who played with the U23 team yesterday.

Anyway, here is the travelling squad.

Leno
Martinez
Maitland-Niles
Chambers
Sokratis
Mustafi
Monreal
Kolasinac
Thompson
Ceballos
Guendouzi
Torreira
Xhaka
Willock
Mkhitaryan
Nelson
Ozil
Martinelli
Saka
Aubameyang
Nketiah

It is a little frustrating that we do not get to see Pepe in action, I cannot think of any real reason why he has not been included unless he is injured.

This game will not tell us much to be honest with so many significant players missing but any game against Barcelona is always worth a watch.

As usual, the game is live on pay-TV channel Premier Sports which means that despite this game being just a friendly that fans will have to splash out for an unnecessary subscription.

Once the team has officially been announced we will post it up and of course, we will provide links in the comments section where one can watch the game without being fleeced once again.

  1. Would have loved to see Pepe in action though I suppose there is no point risking him losing his only remaining live leg in a preseason friendly. Anyway, it’s community shield time! Not sure what Guardiola is planning with his frontline.

      1. Klopp and Guardiola are using 4-3-3 again

Both Liverpool and City have been using 4-3-3 for several seasons with great achievements, yet Arsenal still choose to use the no 10 formations

Can’t wait till Arsenal get rid of all CAMs that can only play as no 10 and I hope Coutinho rumor is not true

  2. Does anyone know of a good streaming app for PL football? So expensive to pay to watch in Norway

  3. Probably because Pepe still can’t speak English well and he still doesn’t gel with his new teammates yet

What really bothers me is the exclusion of Iwobi. Is he injured, still in vacation or transfer listed?

I hope it’s not the latter, because Iwobi is the best right-footed LW at Arsenal currently

    1. Probably getting his time off from ACON tournament. Saka hopefully getting some time on LW. It’s a friendly no points at stake.

Let’s see what Saka and Martinelli can do against some quality competition rather than Iwobi who we already know.
Not a big loss, he’s not a starter and the youth needs a good look for future of the club.

Personally I’m glad Iwobi and some others are sitting out, no need to risk players for a friendly with Newcastle and points at stake in one week.

  4. @Gotanidea iwobi is no more first 11 player in front of auba.. laca.. pepe, behind ozil an mikh,oh! let me assure you martinelli gonna be auba’s back up at the left side, so i still dont getting your ”best right-footed LW” nonsense, so if you like iwobi so much play for him to be sold before situation geting even worse

    1. Awwn. You’re so wrong. Emery would pick iwobi 5 million times before those over-payed, unproductive players (Ozil and mikhi). He was more productive than both of them last season evidently. You can hate as much as you want but it doesn’t matter, the coach likes him
