Petr Cech in SERIOUS Arsenal talks?

Many Arsenal fans and pundits, including Thierry Henry, has made it clear that the Gunners need to buy an upgrade to Wojciech Szczesny this summer if we are REALLY going to challenge Chelsea for the Premiership title. David Ospina’s stats have been immaculate, but after the defeat to Swansea even his capabilities are being questioned.

Now today it has been revealed that Cech’s agents are in serious talks with Arsenal representatives about a move to the Emirates. Cech and his family have been based in London for ten years and Cech would much rather continue his stable family life in England’s capital city rather than uproot them to move to another City, never mind a completely new country.

Petr and his wife Martina have a 7 year-old daughter and a 5 year old son that have been raised and schooled in England since birth so it makes sense that they can continue their schooling in London, stherefore Arsenal can only be an attractive option for the Czech international. Rumours about Cech moving to Besiktas in Turkey makes no sense at all, although Roma may be a touch more attractive at this stage.

“Petr has a valid contract with his current club, however, I can confirm that we have been permitted by Chelsea to negotiate with interested parties and Petr has confirmed his interest to play regularly at a top club,” His agent Victor Kolar told talkSPORT.

The big danger is that Jose Mourinho may block any move away from Stamford Bridge, as the Portugese bus conductor could force Cech to play out the last year of his contract on the bench, but I honestly believe that due to his family commitments Cech is much more likely to stay in London than move abroad.

Hopefully we will see him at Arsenal next season, and I don’t think many Arsenal fans would disagree. Would you?

  1. Mourinho wouldn’t even let us have a bang average player like Demba Ba. Off your rocker if you think he’d sell us Cech.

    1. Cech has 1 year left of his contract which he signed 3 years ago this month, Webster ruling artcile 17 says he can buy himself out of the contract which equals to around £5mil a year.

If Cech wants to go and willing to buy his contract out then there is nothing Jose can do.

  2. Get Neuer or de Gea or Lloris or Curtois
Not useless has-beens like Cech, Casillas and Buffoon

  3. I want Arsenal to sign Bernd Leno, unreal potential and already very solid for his age.
But if we end up signing Cech I definitely won’t complain.

    1. Would much prefer someone who has learned the game rather than someone who is learning the game. Cech.. there simply wont be a better keeper on the market. Arsenal to get the best available option.

  4. cech will go where he is guaranteed game time dont think he would be to bothered about big pay packet as he is minted from his chelsea days, like a lot are saying cant see maureen letting this happen he would be barred off the bus if he did try to force a move.
When the time is right wenger will know who to get in goal he trusts his scouts to know the right info on who he needs, steve rowley master scout best in the world.

just thinking how on earth can juve value pogba anywhere near £70 million, for that i expect him to keep messi in his back pocket and score a hatrick leading juve to the c/l.
    if not then vastly overrated.
i have seen him play a few times he never seems to do much for me, we have ramsey(might not have the height) who does the same thing as pogba but actually scores for fun, when he is on gives you much more perfect all round games and all for £5 million what a bargain pogba soooooooooooooo overated.
juve will sell for the highest bidder and cut and run with the money good for them
though, he will go to psg in france where he will look head and shoulders above all the other average clubs, that’s how he has carved a rep for him self playing in bang average seria a league, if he comes to the prem he would be found out me thinks about £35 millions worth at a push.

  5. Cech is the best keeper the Epl have. Usmanov need to tllk to his pal, and get the guy in. In $$$ i trust.

  6. We won’t buy Cech, but I may buy or take up a loan for his little head cover, and stick it on Szczesny.

  7. This Petr Cech potential transfer saga to Arsenal is blindfolding. The Boss has said, “he is alright with his goalkeepers.” And I believe him. Arsenal did not fail this season to win the coveted Barclays Premier League title and the Champions League trophy because they don’t have top goalkeepers. Good and fine if we get a better than our top 3 goalkeepers. It will be a wellcome inclusion. But is Cech presently better than Ospina or Szczesney? I don’t think so. I think the Gunners failure to win the BPL and the UCL is because Arteta is not a proper DM and cosequently cannot adequately protect the back 4 even with the helping feet of Flamini, The Gunners back 4 largely remained unprotected until Coquelin came to d rescue. And even uptill now, the Gunners are suspect at Left Back. And 2ndly Ozil d master provider was injured for a lengthy spell. Even as he has returned, d Gunners are yet to be taking full advantage of his assists. And lastly, Arsenal still need a prolific right winger and a top quality striker.

    1. Is Cech better than Ospina or Szczesny? Seriously? I like Ospina a lot but we are talking about one of the best goalies in the world in Cech. I can see this happening as inside that arrogant, obnoxious, little Jose there is a heart and given Cech’s loyal service to Chelsea, the way he has accepted being back-up this year and the personal reasons why he wants to stay in London (reportedly) I can see Mourinho letting him move to Arsenal. Ba was a completely different story, Mourinho had no loyalty to him and Ba had built up no credit with Chelsea.

      1. I dont think Jose will show any loyalty at all BUT Chech holds all the cards for his own future, he signed his last extension 3 years ago this month and Article 17 of the Webster ruling means Cech can buy himself out for aprox £5mil.

If we offer £10 mil then I wouldn’t be surprised to see Roman accept the offer for Jose and tell him to use the funds.

FFP can make the difference, Chelsea will want to recoup £££ so they can spend more, we all know Jose can only buy talent so he will need the cash.

    Wenger, though, indicated that he
is happy with the keepers he
    already has at The Emirates.
“I believe in the goalkeepers I
    have,” said the Arsenal boss.
    “I believe that Wojciech Szczesny
is a very good goalkeeper and
David Ospina has come in and
    done a fantastic job.
“You look at the numbers in the
Premier League and who is top of

    see it is Ospina.”

    Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho
has already said he hopes Cech
will stay – but would not want him
to join a Premier League rival.
“One thing is Jose Mourinho and
    another is Mr Abramovich (Chelsea
owner) and another thing is the
board because the board includes a
little bit of me, a little bit of other
    people,” Mourinho said last week.
“But if it was me, if it was my
decision, my decision is Petr to
    stay.
“After that, second point to go but
not in England. The option I don’t
want is for him to go to an
    English club.

  10. Obviously Cech will be a nice option. However, I do not see Mourinho let him go to Arsenal. In my point of view, we need to concentrate first for other position as our budget his not illimited. Ospina is not a world class goalkeeper but he is doing the job, shown as well by his remarkable stats especially his clean sheets.

  11. Rumours! Rumours! Rumours!
Why do we get worked up about rumours that a player is joining us when it’s coming from unreliable sources?
I’ll rather discuss the last games of the season than be broken hearted as always when it turns out to be untrue. Same old Arsenal transfer rumours. I’m outta here!
