Petr Cech keen to keep Arsenal tradition of beating Tottenham

The Arsenal keeper Petr Cech knows all about the rivalries of big London derbies from his many games against Tottenham while he was at Chelsea, but this is his first NLD with Arsenal and he is looking forward to maintaining the Gunners superiority over Spurs.

The Spuds have never finished above us since Arsene Wenger arrived at the Emirates, but although Arsenal are flying high, this young Spurs side are only five points below us in the table. They haven’t lost in the League since their opening day 1-0 defeat at Manchester United so wll be coming into this game with more confidence than usual.

Petr though is relishing the challenge. “I’m looking forward to it,” he told Arsenal Player. “It is a big game with a special atmosphere and it is obviously a north London derby with two teams who want to be top of the league.

“In our case we want to make sure we win the game and stay at the top. In their case they need the points to enter into the top four.

“You feel how much the game means to the supporters and it means a lot to the players, too. You want to win every game and if it is a special match, you want to make an extra bonus for your fans – hopefully we will carry on the tradition and win.

“You need to play with your heart and with a cool head. In these types of games you need to make sure you play in the right way and you still need to keep your game going as this is how you win – because one free-kick, one mistake in terms of cards and it can change the game.”

If anyone knows about keeping a cool head, then Petr’s your man! Arsenal have four wins and a draw from their last five home games against Spurs, so let’s look to the big main to keep our tradition going!

  1. Derby games could swing anywhere but if we play well, defend well without errors, then we will beat spurs. Our league form is very good…

For the first time in a long while, I am looking forward to the international break simply because we will have some injured players back.

    Arsenal All the way…..

  2. PC has saved us so far 9 points and I think by the end of the season it will be near 16-18 great keeper. Why AW never got a super keeper after David I never no yeah we had yans but not the same. Don’t matter if you have the best on the pitch you need that keeper. COYG
