Extremely difficult to predict what sort of team Unai Emery will select against Eintracht Frankfurt.
It has never been easy to predict what sort of team Unai Emery would select and it is even more difficult now.
Will he stick to putting out the fringe and young players or will he go with a more experienced line up considering how precarious his position is?
Under normal circumstances, I would go with the former but to give you an idea of how difficult it is to second guess the Spaniard have a look at what some of the mainstream media think.
Martinez; Sokratis, Chambers, Mustafi; Bellerin, Ozil, Torreira, Guendouzi, Tierney; Aubameyang, Lacazette
Martinez; Chambers, Mustafi, Holding, Kolasinac; Guendouzi, Willock; Nelson, Smith Rowe, Saka; Martinelli
They can only agree on four players, that is it.
And it is not just the mainstream media that have no idea, let’s look at an Arsenal blog, Red London..
Macey, Mavropanos, Mustafi, Holding, Maitland-Niles, Xhaka, Willock, Tierney, Pepe, Lacazette, Martinelli
I could go on with more predicted line ups from all sorts of media outlets and you will get the same picture.
I am in the same boat sad to say, I can only have a guess, I have no more clue than anyone else. It is an educated guess of course and I tend to get quite close to what the manager selects. But on this occasion, it really is a shot in the dark.
So, this is my predicted lineup…
Martinez, Mustafi, Holding, Kolasinac, Maitland-Niles, Willock, Nelson, Smith Rowe, Pepe, Saka, Martinelli
Basically my thinking is that Emery will stick to his same formula of using players he is unlikely to pick at the weekend for the Norwich game.
He may go with a more regular midfielder like Guendouzi instead of Nelson or even bring Torreira in, I really do not know. But I do find it unlikely that Emery will change too much from his previous thinking with Europa League games.
I thought Kolasinac and Bellerin were injured?
We are going to play like crap, that’s for sure.
If that’s the case, will probably be tempted to turn over to the jungle!
I think Ian Wright is coming across as a real bully and hope someone has a ‘word’ with him Sue 👊
He has been grumpy, GB…
ESR scored for the U23’s last night, so doubt we’ll see him. Will we see Xhaka??
I’m counting on Emery to start Xhaka.
Yes that wouldn’t surprise me!
Red London obviously have no idea, but then, neither do we. I do agree though, that Emery will stick to his policy of giving the young ‘uns a run.
Since as always the formation is completely unpredictable, I will just give a list of names to start:
Martinez
Holding
AMN
Kolasinac
Mustafi
Pepe
Guendouzi
Willock
Martimelli
Nelson
Saka
