Predicted Arsenal line-up to face Liverpool in Carabao Cup

Ozil to be included in the team to face Liverpool at Anfield.

It is never easy to predict an Unai Emery line-up. However, in recent games, I have got very close with ten from eleven right. Hopefully, I will get close again.

Some players are a given and one of those is Emiliano Martínez between the sticks. The defence more or less will pick itself as well.

Kolasinac will start on the left now that Kieran Tierney has been promoted to the first team. Hector Belelrin is like to start on the right for more game time. Rob Holding and Shkodran Mustafi are almost certain to take the centre half spots.

Midfield is always tricky with Emery, he has so many different permutations that I reckon he gets confused. However, Joe Willock, Lucas Torreira and Emile Smith Rowe look good bets to start. This means Ainsley Maitland-Niles will probably miss out.

Upfront I reckon Emery will go with Mesut Ozil just behind Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

So, this is the line-up I believe Emery is most likely to go with against Liverpool.

Martinez
Kolasinac
Holding
Mustafi
Bellerin
Smith Rowe
Willock
Torreira
Ozil
Saka
Martinelli

Obviously, with Emery, he could easily put out a totally different team. He could play Maitland-Niles with Smith Rowe behind the forwards and leave Ozil on the bench. He could put Chambers at right-back and rest Bellerin and so on.

Regardless, I expect an exciting team to be selected that will give a good account of themselves at Anfield this evening.

  1. I hope this is not going to be another lost because my heart is too fragile to take another loss from Liverfool fans around me.

  2. l just want a good performance our football is going backwards and its time we started playing watchable Ball once again .
No matter what the result tho im thinking we can get a result tonight with the Fools fixture list.

  3. Making use of Ozil now is nothing not damage control.
Forget all the crap that it’s a cup game and not a big deal. If it’s not really a big deal, then send Freddie’s U23 squad to go play it. I’m sure even Emery and club’s hierarchy finds it insane and somewhat mystified that despite everything they’ve said about Ozil, despite freezing him out for months, he still has his fans cheering for him, even singing his name when he’s not even playing. That superstar, that big boy Ozil that has millions of fan can always be effective on fans even if he’s not effective on the pitch.
This is just some PR stunt to control damage and calm down the fans.
Everybody knows no way the man isolated for over four weeks will just walk into the pitch and create miracles, without struggling with fitness or being rusty.
Watch how the defenders of Emery and others will switch the whole debacle on Ozil in a few hours

  4. I don’t even know why they are going to liverpool they might just give the win to them without even being bothered. Unai Emery and his garbage team need to go together

  5. There are free lineup generators online so you can have an image of the lineup rather than just text. The rule is always “show don’t tell”

  6. Can we PLEASE just get the lineup on this site without having to link to another social media page. Just put the lineup on the page. I do not belong to twitter or facebook and do not intend to, EVER.

Whatever lineup plays, I will support the team as I have since 1971, yes indeed, for 38 years now. I will celebrate and criticise with equal passion, but I will not commit character assassination.

    1. I’m sorry, I don’t understand what you mean. There is no link to any social media sites in this post….

  7. Todays team news

    Reiss Nelson
Left knee (ligament injury). Sustained during the Standard Liege (h) match on October 3. Aiming to return to full training in November.

There were no injury issues from Sunday’s match against Crystal Palace.

All other first-team squad players available for selection.

Unless you got an exclusive info on Niles, only Nelson is announced out…

Regarding selection, common sense will see players who did not play Sunday considering we playing again in 3 days, Wolves.

All Emery must do is secure CDs with Chambers infront of them, then he can add Ozil, Niles or Torreira and Willock on a 442. I would go for Niles instead of Torreira but Emery won’t nor play Chambers.

He will them be forgotten with bellerin back. Chambers is actually is the key to the team’s balance as a DM, securing CB danger zone, allowing everyone to play forward he also pushes towards.

He offers options in middle, Torreira Niles Willock can all play with him bit behind them and Ozil can play his game, focus on being a playmaker he is, devellop & feed attacks.

If Emery doesn’t play Chambers as a DM infront of CBs, we will be even more so in trouble at Anfield. They players dont booed there but boosted by fans, that 12th man is important!
