Preview, Line-Up and Score Prediction for Arsenal at Newcastle

Arsenal are in fantastic form in the Premier League and FA cup and even though we had to suffer yet another disappointing early exit from the Champions League, the players did go some way to redeeming themselves by playing well and winning 2-0 away in Monaco, so Arsene Wenger will be hoping that we can continue our strong run and cement our place in the top four by beating a struggling Newcastle United side at St. James´ Park today.

The manager has urged his players not to take the Magpies for granted, even though they have a host of players missing through injury and suspension. They still have a strong side with the likes of Perez up front and Sissoko, Colback, Gouffran, Janmaat and Tim Krul in goal, so it is no gimme.

The Gunners have our own injury concerns of course and the boss has been speaking about fatigue as well so there may be a few changes to the starting XI. One of those will not be Olivier Giroud though, after Wenger praised his big striker to Arsenal Player for the strength he has shown to bounce back quickly after his terrible first leg against Monaco.

Our manager said, “I believe he bounced back because he is strong mentally. On the night [at home to Monaco] maybe he wanted to score too much, and he was a bit tense. I gave him the chance to play again in the game afterwards, and he scored. That’s the best way to find your confidence back.”

The French striker is in great form but Alexis Sanchez looks in need of a rest and is likely to start on the bench today and most of us expect Theo Walcott to get a rare start but there are Welbeck and Ozil to consider as well. I would guess that the German could be rested as well with Cazorla playing at number 10 and Ramsey starting alongside Coquelin.

Fit again Gabriel is likely to come in although whether for Koscielny or the BFG is anyone´s guess. The players Wenger selects, to be fair, should not really matter. As long as Arsenal start with the right intent then it should be another crucial away win.

If we get an early goal I can see a big score and I think we will get another clean sheet so my prediction is 3-0 to the Gunners.

  1. I would start Gabriel just to rotate, maybe Mertz and then we can call on Mertz for final minutes when we have a lead to defend…
I will give a go to Ramsey and Coquelin,
Also I would have front three of Welbeck, Ozil and Walcott and give Sanchez a rest…
Maybe bring on Sanchez at 60-65 mins for creating sparks
And Also subbing Rosicky/Cazorla for Ozil just to give sufficient amount of rest and playtime
    Rest I am happy with
    COYG 2-0 to Gunners

  2. Also I pointed out one thing.

When we want to know whether our transfer targets are confirmed, we will always wait for it to get it confirmed at Sky Sports, Arsenal.com, or BBC News

But when we hear rumours of players leaving the club, etc. we take it for real and then will start debating on it

I don’t need to remind that a particular news about Sanchez leaving the club in future only because he was no longer considered to be the main man for Arsenal was published by one of these bullshit newspapers….

Did Walcott said anything about a pay rise or did Wenger mentioned that some players are being too greedy, etc. etc. etc.??
Then why are making a fuss about it from beginning??
Bring on the news when the rumours are confirmed, otherwise support the team….

I will hear that Walcott is not defensive enough and all that, but not many players were before, now when the team is attacking and defending like a unit, then Walcott will also get into the rythm,
He has just come from an injury, he might not have been lethal enough but he is still good as a winger, he can make runs behind defenses, he is a good crosser, he can test the keeper…

Also if I need to remind that Walcott is class, then have a look again on goals against Brighton and Aston Villa, they were class goals, and I am sure more will come….

  3. @lethalprince9.
My favourite goal of Walcott’s was against Newcastle in the 7-3 game. He dribbled past people, got knocked over and got back on his feet to chip Krull, class goal!!

      1. That Walcott goal was one of my favourites ever dribbling past players got knocked over could have stayed Down and got a pen but got back up and scored. You see spectacular goals all the time and there great to watch but you don’t see many like that. He’s scored a couple where he’s been knocked over then he’s got back up quickly and scored.

  4. Oh good. Wenger has asked for caution and not to underestimate their opposition. Sound familiar!?

1 nil to the Arsenal. Wellbeck to score inadvertently.

    1. Lol obviously I would love it if City lost but trying to be a bit more realistic with my hopes. They are playing at home so can’t really predict a loss.

Chelski loss away is not probable but definitely possible. Fabregas is having his usual downturn that he usually has second half of the season and Chelski have lost to lesser teams.

Liverpool is playing better recently. I can see them winning if not drawing

I think Spurs will win so didn’t mention them.

      1. West Brom had a player sent off after 5 minutes, and City are now 1-0 ahead approaching half-time…..

  5. I don’t want any Gunners today at St. James’ to test Tim Krul, hit the post, hit the uprights, sidenetting the ball, shoot to Krul’s hands, shoot over the bar, and be caught offside. The Gunners MUST hit the back of Jim Krul’s net 5 times to Magpies hitting nil. The Gunners MUST not fall into John Carver’s injury ploy trap. Which he has designed to catch the Gunners into it as he ploys to make the Gunners become over-confident and be complacent. And then his Magpies will pounce on the Gunners. My own CONSOLIDATING GAINS GUNNERS STARTS: Szczesny. ChambersDe-AbreuKoscielnyGibbs. CoquelinRosicky. WalcottOzilWelbeck. Giroud. My bench: OspinaMonrealBellerinRhino’RamseyCazorlaSanchez. All to start on the my bench and rest for the Liverpool big game coming after the international friendlies. I expect to see some changes to my starts and my bench made by the boss. And I will accept them. Because I ‘m not the manager. NUFC 0-5 AFC FT 90’+.
