Ramsey is not being greedy – He just wants to play further forward for Arsenal?

There are just ten days left in the European transfer window and Arsenal seem to be even further away from tying down Aaron Ramsey to a contract extension. Many pundits think that it is the Welshman’s over-high wages demands that are the biggest obstacle to a new deal, but it has now been suggested that Ramsey simply wants to play in his favoured position.

Ramsey started against Manchester City, but he was on the bench and was brought on near the end to replace Mesut Ozil, could it have been because Ramsey has told him that he wants to play there? The ex-England midfielder Jermaine Jenas believes this is the case and is the cause of the current contract stand-off.

“For their sake, they need to go down that road because the Aaron Ramsey situation didn’t work,” he said. “I think he wants to play higher up the pitch and I get the feeling it was more Ramsey’s decision than Emery’s.

“The fact Ramsey hasn’t signed – you can’t tell me there has not been a conversation along the lines of ‘what is it, then, that you want?’

“Because he isn’t a greedy person. I think Ramsey just wants to play in the position he wants to be.

“I think he wants to play higher up, but I’m not sure if it suits him.”

So if this is true, and the game against Chelsea suggests it may be, then what is the solution? There is very little chance of Ozil being dropped for Ramsey so should Arsenal just sell him, or leave him on the bench until Ozil gets injured?
