Ranieri not so confident that Mahrez won’t join Arsenal

Up until now, every time that the Leicester Boss Claudio Ranieri has spoken about Arsenal’s interest in Riyad Mahrez, he has sounded very confident that the Player-of-the-Year will still be in his team next season.

But now there appears to be a crack in his armour, and it sounds like the Italian is now trying desperately to persuade Mahrez to stay. “I speak often with him and say stay with us, it’s much better for your future.” Ranieri told Sky Sports. “I think he is an intelligent man and he will stay,”

“He improves more if he stays with us for another year, maybe next year he can think about another solution. If he goes for a lot of money, everybody will be expecting something special. He can do something special, but with us.”

So that is the first time that Ranieri has admitted that Mahrez could leave Leicester for a lot of money, and this certainly gives me hope that Arsene Wengeris in the opposite corner and trying hard to convince the Algerian international that he will be better off at the Emirates.

At 25 years of age, Mahrez is still approaching his peak and is already a very classy player. He would be a perfect addition to the Arsenal front line, and I am sure Wenger could convince Walcott that his future lies elsewhere once we get Mahrez on board…..

  1. Mahrez….Ozil….Alexis
    ………..Top Striker

    Not bad if it happened
Even if Giroud was our main striker Mahrez would push Giroud from a 16 goal striker to a 20 goal striker

  2. Look at this point with so many Mahrez rumour let’s just wait and see what happens.
He would be a clear upgrade from our current options. We have tried Walcott, Ox, Ramsey, Welbeck & Sanchez. Sanchez can do the job but feel he is better on the left or as a secondary striker. Ramsey better in midfield and if it wasn’t clear before just look at his euro to be convinced. Ox well if only he could be better in the final third and Walcott simply can’t defend and be efficient enough from the wing.
Mahrez is the current PFA and would bring goals & assists plenty. Also can allow the boss to tinker tactically up front too.

Right now a CB is a more pressing issue! Read on Eurosport.uk that Mustafi is flying over after we made a bid interesting enough…let’s see how this one will pan out first.
Even if we don’t get a striker if we can close Mustafi & Mahrez I would be satisfied. With another creative force from the right Giroud’s and Walcott’s numbers will improve enough to fill a bit the shortage of goal and world class ability at the #9 spot.

    1. With another CB we are back to last year no world class finisher. This year there is no way with current team to even be be 4th place trust me.

  3. Paul pogba is soon a manure player, citeh set to announce a triple signing in Jesus, stones and sane

while Arsenal is considering ashley williams and speculating on signing Mahrez…..just speculations

is there even a pot of gold at the end of our rainbow? …..bites me

  4. Every blessed day….these tabloids and news outlets keep twisting and turning the same News they feed to us….

And we keep believing them….. What really got me perplexed is how they managed to do it!

  5. @ SoOpa. … Spot on.

Lets see how things pan out. Right now you don’t know what to believe. One minute you got hope another moment you are so confused.. ..

  6. Can’t see us sign 2 forwards. So if we happen to sign Mahrez, we won’t go in for a center forward and vice versa. A CB will come in I believe.

  7. This Mahrez shananagans that’s being constantly reported has now become even more irritating than Vardy and Pogba. I guess reporters have to get paid some how.

Anyway to this statement, whether we are interested in Mahrez or not I do not agree with Ranieri.

“I speak often with him and say stay with us, it’s much better for your future.”

Mahrez is truly a talented player which he has obviously proven last season in the league where many a bigger names have came and failed. He wasn’t voted player of the year for nothing. If not Arsenal, I’m sure there would be other top clubs willing to give him a better platform. So staying at Leciester would be irrelevant. You don’t lose your talent if you alreday have it, the most would probably be pace which comes with aging but that’s not something he should be worried about now at 25.

  8. I would sell Walcott and Ramsey to fund a new striker like Auba. Ramsey had a good Euro but I think we have enough players in the CAM position. Mahrez, Mustafi and Auba would definitely elevate us to the next level. For me Lacazette is the same level as Campbell, doubt if he is good enough to help us win the league.

    1. All French players are overrated, we had Chammakh, then useless Giroud, now we are going to waist our money to another French, so go out there and go a real top class striker before is too late.

  9. If you believe all the garbage posted on these Arsenal blogs/websites you would “know” that 26 players have been declared “Done Deal!” another 21 have declared that players have flown to London for medicals, and another 15 have signed with Arsenal already. Wow!

Wenger has been very very busy or somebody has been spreading lies.

What is the point of making up stories? I don’t get it.

    According to sources…
Wenger is believed to be an admirer of…
    Breaking news…
    Deal close…
    Done deal! ….
    Arsenal to break the bank…
    Arsenal agree deal with superstar…

    Garbage, garbage and more garbage!!!
