Ranieri not so confident that Mahrez won’t join Arsenal

Up until now, every time that the Leicester Boss Claudio Ranieri has spoken about Arsenal’s interest in Riyad Mahrez, he has sounded very confident that the Player-of-the-Year will still be in his team next season.

But now there appears to be a crack in his armour, and it sounds like the Italian is now trying desperately to persuade Mahrez to stay. “I speak often with him and say stay with us, it’s much better for your future.” Ranieri told Sky Sports. “I think he is an intelligent man and he will stay,”

“He improves more if he stays with us for another year, maybe next year he can think about another solution. If he goes for a lot of money, everybody will be expecting something special. He can do something special, but with us.”

So that is the first time that Ranieri has admitted that Mahrez could leave Leicester for a lot of money, and this certainly gives me hope that Arsene Wengeris in the opposite corner and trying hard to convince the Algerian international that he will be better off at the Emirates.

At 25 years of age, Mahrez is still approaching his peak and is already a very classy player. He would be a perfect addition to the Arsenal front line, and I am sure Wenger could convince Walcott that his future lies elsewhere once we get Mahrez on board…..
