Rodriguez Agent suggests Swiss will have TWO Arsenal stars on show

I am sure that the viewing figures for Euro 2016 today will be significantly boosted by those of us of the Arsenal persuasion, especially for the first of the three games on offer, as the Switzerland v Albania gives us the first chance to see our new transfer acquisition in competitive action since Arsene Wenger moved swiftly to complete the signing of Granit Xhaka from the Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach.

Gooners everywhere will be tuning in and hoping to see our new central midfield star put on a show for his country, but according to a report in The Mirror he might not be the only new Arsenal player in the Swiss team. The paper is reporting that their left back Ricardo Rodriguez is a transfer target for the Gunners and that our chances of being able to sign him have just received a significant boost.

The talented 23-year old is currently on the books of the German club Wolfsburg, who are notoriously difficult to deal with and are helped in this attitude by their serious financial backing. So Arsene Wenger could well have found himself banging his head against a brick wall in his transfer pursuit of their player.

But his agent has just revealed that there is a release clause in the contract of Rodriguez that has just become active. Why do you think he would do this other than to encourage prospective suitors to bid for his client in the knowledge that Wolfsburg cannot stop him leaving if the clause is met.

So if I were you Arsenal fans, I would keep a close eye on the Switzerland left back today as well as our new midfielder.

  1. Rodriguez is a quality replacement for Monreal, who isn’t getting any younger.

This youngster is a great passer and crosser of the ball and he has also scored from free kicks, aswell as being a decent penalty taker and to have him and Bellerin attacking down our wings from defence, would be wonderful.

    GREAT NEWS, regarding Bellerin:

Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has confirmed that he wants to stay with the Gunners.

Barcelona and Manchester City have been linked with the 21-year-old, who has become a key part of Arsene Wenger’s side in north London.

‘I am very happy at Arsenal,’ he told EcoDiario.

‘I renewed last year and have many years left. I am very happy. In football you can always spend a lot, but I’m in the Arsenal, giving everything for the club.

‘I do not think about going to anywhere else.’

This will be brilliant news for Gooners, who have seen a host of players leave for the Nou Camp over the last ten years.

  2. Just ready to see our new boy play…youtude is rrally all i had to be honest lets go xak man..ARSENAL!!!!

  3. I think the homegrown rules does more harm than good to English football..our British core and players like sterling and delph could’ve been at europa league level clubs earning quality game time to improve themselves instead of sitting on the benches at top clubs just to fill the quota. Its great that the FA is trying to protect and help their own but all they’ve manage to do is create a easy payday for some greedy and unambitious individuals who have no genuine love for football and are just trying to get rich quick.

  4. How boring is this Switzerland game? ???
half an hour gone and it feels like 3 day’s have pasted by! ?

    1. LOL You didn’t expect Albania vs Switzerland to be exciting, did you? 🙂

At least Wales v Slovakia has Bale so that may be more exciting
England v Russia should be better too

Don’t worry, plenty of football to come 🙂

  5. Having both Monreal and Rodriquez would definitely make us stronger
Rodriguez is not just a defender but an attacking threat also

However, we still need a top CF and CB
I would also add a winger like Aubmeyang, Mahrez, Mkhtaryan, Greizmann, Reus, James Rodriguez, Gotze etc
Also if Debuchy leaves we need a RB

BUT a top CF and CB is a MUST

  6. If Ricardo is all I have read about him then I think he will be an upgrade to Gibbs and great competition for Monreal. And am also glad Vardy is on the verge of turning down our offer. Personally, I think he is not the ideal man for the job. We must go all out for Abumeyang and if we can’t get him then we should go for the duo of Icardi and Lacazette or the duo of Lacazette and Janssen.

  7. Think that’s the first time I have watched xhaka over 90 mins good but not impressive certainly didn’t dominate the middle of park in way konte was all over the place yday … More disciplined than Ramsey and more physical but hope there Is more to come … Rodriguez definitely worth the investment though

  8. if this guy Xhaka plays like today,he will be booked all the time, not impressive at all.
    feels like another fiasco
