Ryan Fraser and Yannick Carrasco still in play despite latest headlines

Over the last few weeks, Arsenal has been linked with a ton of players in every single position and two of those players, Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser and Dalian Yifang’s Yannick Carrasco have had as much, if not more, written about their links with us than almost any other player.

In fact, it was being reported that Carrasco was on the verge of signing with us but as in politics, a week in football is a very long time.

Today, as I was going through the latest Arsenal news, two headlines, in particular, popped up declaring that both players will not be signing for us this summer.

This one was from the Daily Star in relation to Fraser, “Arsenal transfer target closes door on Emirates move amid asking price”

This one from the Daily Mail regarding Carrasco, “Arsenal ‘out of race to sign £30million Yannick Carrasco’ with just £45m to rebuild the squad this summer”

Now, I just know that by tomorrow there will be more headlines stating that one or both will, in fact, be signing for us this summer.

Well, this is how I see it.

Both players could easily be Gunners by the end of the summer, neither is priced out of our reach and with the inevitable player sales we could afford both.

Agents play a massive role in disinformation, they want to drive the price up as much as possible so they can get their cut and I see their hands at play here right now.

Look at the facts, Fraser has not signed a new contract and has just 12 months left on his contract, his club confirmed this yesterday, that is a cold hard fact.

Carrasco is desperate to leave China, he has made that publicly clear, that is a fact.

So the facts are clear, both players want to leave their current clubs and that puts them in play and it is all about who is willing to pay their respective asking prices.

I simply do not believe that we are out of the running for either player and nothing I have read today has convinced me otherwise.

  1. The problem with arsenal is that they dilly dally. We have been linked with Carrasco since January. Why was the deal not wrapped up back then. Just like Madrid wrapped up hazard. It’s ridiculous. And it was the same under Wenger. Get out there and wrap up the negotiations before the media get a sniff. Give the fans something to be pleased about.

    1. Better don’t rush and let Arsenal assess their targets thoroughly first, otherwise we could get another Denis Suarez

    1. As said days ago,we are still in negotiations for Carrasco and are still interested in Fraser.None is close to joining us at the moment.Claude-Maurice deal ain’t as close as media make it seem to be.Developments are expected this week regarding the player.

Saliba deal was close but City want to hijack by using the fact that they will loan him back to Saint Etienne. The will to not loan him back also doesn’t mean this is off as media makes it seem.

Ademola Eze,a Nigerian U17 player is also close to joining our academy

  2. Arsenal waste so much time scouting and pricing players when others are busy signing players. And with this ridiculous meager budget, they don’t stand a chance at all in the transfer market neither are they serious in contending for any trophy this coming season. the club keeps going down and down by the day. This is not the Arsenal we used to know.

    1. Arsenal must have put the list out of players available for transfer but nobody has come for them yet. We need to sell so we know what money we have got to spend

  3. Most of the transfer rumours are just that, rumours. Ok there is no smoke without fire but most journalists would set fire to themselves to get a story out. Everyone should just calm down a little and wait until July, when the New shirt deal kicks in and Edu joins us. The biggest clickbait rumour as far as I’m concerned is the £40/45 million transfer fund, which is pure speculation and just click bait to be sure. Ignore it, trust me.

    1. I also think that we will spend about 100 million with the sales but I don’t think emery can sell the ones he wants to sell.. IMO we shouldn’t waste money trying to get players emery want and bring another manager who can get the best out of the players we do have.. if emery disappoints next year too and succeeds in selling the players he doesn’t want, we will be in a very bad situation..

      1. I don’t think there is any manager that can get the best out of this current arsenal squad…It is just too unbalanced..

        1. Even if not the best out of the team maybe somebody who can atleast win 2 out of 8 games?
And i am pretty sure that its easily possible for the most top class managers out there 😀

  4. My issue with Carrasco is that he’s been playing in the Chinese League for about 2 years now. Going from that to the EPL is a massive transition. The EPL is the toughest top flight league in the world, and a lot of players flop here that have come from Serie A, Bundesliga, Eridivisie, La Liga, Ligue 1, etc. The Chinese league is a million miles away from any of those leagues. He still looks decent when playing with Belgium, but then again, I wouldn’t say that is too difficult given the quality in that Belgium side.

My worry is that Carrasco is woefully under prepared for our league, and we need quality right now. I’d still be pleased if we got him as he’d automatically improve our squad, because we currently have ZERO wingers. I’d still prefer Fraser though, as he’s proven in the EPL.

    1. Carrasco played as an LWB in World Cup and he was one of the worst dribblers there, perhaps because he couldn’t use his strongest foot to get past his marker

His stats were never great for AS Monaco, Atletico Madrid and Belgium, hence I believe he can only thrive in lower league like the Chinese league

I also prefer Fraser because at least he has one great EPL season. It is also better to gamble on a young winger rather than getting a limited one, unless Arsenal want to profit from Carrasco’s jersey

  5. As stated days ago,we are in negotiations for Carrasco and are still interested in Fraser.None are close to joining us at the moment.Claude-Maurice deal ain’t as close as media make it seem to be.Developments are expected this week regarding the player.

  6. Why aren’t we in for ziyech .., would prefer him over either … Wants to come to Arsenal caused endless problems for spuds and Madrid which suggests he has what is needed at highest level …would complement lacazette and aub … Even a rapid front three … But with the corporates running club we will end up with bargain basement option with predictable result

  7. Reading all articles and comments about our summer business, I feel desperate as an Arsenal fan, this isn’t the same club i fell in love with, no ambition from the owners, not attractive anymore to new players…lemme just wait for the Newcastle game

  8. The old arsenal as gone a long time ago we need stan out and someone who loves the club to buy it then bring Dennis back and big Tony and Patrick Vieira then we will see the old arsenal again

  9. we need the Ziyech guy, Frazer and Carrasco don’t cut it for me and Kev stop acting like you know shiiii you know nothing, you did the same all through last year, all your shirts were wrong
