Sané to Man City leaves Arsenal free to seal Mahrez transfer

The obstacles standing in the way of Arsenal completing the summer transfer of this fantastic forward from the Foxes have been handily moving out of the way over the last week, although there are still some questions about whether Riyad Mahrez is ready to move on, and whether his current club Leicester City are determined not to sell him.

The next week or so should at least tell us how serious Arsene Wenger is about signing the 25-year old Algerian who set the Premier League on fire last season with his 17 goals and 11 assists to highlight his all-round impact and contribution to the surprise title winning campaign.

Surely our manager would like to have Mahrez in the Arsenal team but with La Liga champions Barcelona and the mega rich EPL rivals Man City and their new coach Pep Guardiola said to be after him as well I was not particularly optimistic about our chances.

Now though, just a few days after the Spanish media declared that Barca were out of the race, a report by The Guardian explains that Man City are set to seal the transfer of the young German international forward Leroy Sane from Schalke.

That puts the Gunners firmly in pole position and with a clear run at Mahrez, so will Wenger get the deal done?
