Serie A striker the wrong January transfer target for Arsenal?

According to some of the latest Arsenal transfer rumours, the Italian club Internazionale are so concerned about Arsenal signing their Argentina international star in the January transfer window or during next summer, that they are set to offer Mauro Icardi a new and improved contract.

A report by The Mirror claims that Inter are planning to include a huge release clause of close to £200 million in the striker’s new deal to fend off any attempt by Arsene Wenger to sign their player for the Gunners. Now while I feel that a release clause of this size would surely do the trick and stop Arsenal’s interest, I also reckon it is not really necessary.

One are in which Arsenal seem to be pretty well set is our forward line, with the in form England striker Danny Welbeck providing strong competition for the likes of Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez and the new summer signing Alexandre Lacazette.

24-year old Icardi looks a good player and already has five goals from just three games so far this season after scoring 26 in the previous one, but is he really the right transfer target for Arsenal in January?

  1. Come on! You just mentioned he’s got 5 goals already from just 3 games and you are again asking if that kind of fire power in our strike force is necessary! Honestly, I believe you are not appraising the possible implications of those stats in 38 games of the league season which, even though you and I know we’ll enough of the impossibility here, arithmetically translates to 60+ goals. Like seriously!!! This is a no Brainer and yes, we need that kind of fire power in our squad.

  2. Maybe its time for Wenger to go Foreign….

bring back the French Flairs and the foreign players

like Chelsea, City and Utd dominated by foreign players

but then again Arsenal is an English Club..

Additionally, the board may not like it

    1. It is indeed time to dump the entitled British “stars.” Wenger’s mistake was to try to develop
an English side able to wen it all.
