Shold Arsenal send Calum Chambers out on loan?

Why This Loan Deal Can Be Beneficial For Arsenal! by AT

According to reports from the Sun, the Arsenal youngster Calum Chambers is set to join Southampton on a six-month loan deal once the transfer window opens in January. With the Saints having a disappointing campaign so far, it is understood that Ronald Koeman has identified the former Southampton star as an option to fix his leaky defence.

On joining Arsenal for £16million in 2014, the Englishman was perceived by many as the future of the Gunners defence. But despite a bright start to his Arsenal career, he has struggled with form for quite some time now and rarely makes it to Arsene Wenger’s match day squad. So should Arsenal loan him back to Southampton?

In my opinion, that would be ideal, for both club and player. As a result of his poor form and lack of first-team opportunities, Calum has really struggled for confidence, so a stint back at St. Mary’s can really help him out in that regard as he is likely to see a lot more first-team opportunities. Being a graduate of the Southampton academy, he won’t really need time to settle in, which means he can get right into the action.

In addition, it will be a plus point for Arsenal to welcome him back with a handful of Premier League games under his belt. It is pretty obvious to see that the 20-year-old still needs some experience in England’s top flight. Should Arsenal face an injury crisis in defence, we will always have the option of recalling him to the squad, like we did with Coquelin.

Now although there are some Gooners who think he can be deployed in central midfield, I would rather have Koscielny play there with Gabriel coming in to partner Mertesacker at the back. With that being said, I really hope Calum can complete his loan move to the South Coast and come back to the Arsenal squad brimming with confidence.

    1. Yes he should go out on loan, but only if we do not sell Debuchy. And i feel he should not go to Southampton because he wouldn’t be a regular starter there, whereas he should go to a team like Bournemouth who are in need of a CB and would play him in at least 15 of their remaining premier league games.

  1. Wenger said it that loans to premier league team never contain emergency call ball as the case of Coquelin which was championship team, so I say he must stay here he’s our 4th CB and an option in the DM, and RB. Unless we brought someone in, we might need him. Beside I love the minutes he is getting at the end of every game, most notably against city, he did what gibbs didn’t in 20 minutes, while he last only 5minutes.

  2. Only if Wenger signs someone better than Chambers!
    Otherwise, No!…
That would be extremely Stupid (wenger like) To leave the squad even more depleted. ?

    1. Only if he regularly plays at Southampton. At his age he needs game times not minutes to develop further. Willshere, Campbell and don’t forget Coq came back a far better player after their loan spells….Jenkinson also seems to have developed well at West Ham and would be a credible replacement for Debuchy next year.

  3. Wenger has never hinted at Koscielny playing midfield before. He might not have considered it even. Probably when Ramsey, Flamini and Chambers get injured, LoL.

  4. Preferably in the summer. Also, it would require Arsene to sign another CB as Per and Laurent don’t get any younger either. Unless Isaac Hayden has developed enough to Arsene’s liking, I can’t see Chambers going without a replacement.

  5. No part X him for stones. CC just don’t fit and so not worth what Aw paid for him and to think Carl was sent out to West Ham ? Don’t mani any sence

    1. Debuchy is the one to leave in January. Bellerin good performance has effectively ended Debuchy Arsenal career. Therefore, Chambers has to stay he can play RB,CB and CD.

  6. OT: guys what do you think of kieran Gibbs. I have lost patience in him. His last performance against city just pissed me off.he should be moved on at the end of the season
