Should Arsenal be eyeing Barcelona star to replace Ozil?

Arsenal are being linked with a move to sign Arda Turan from Barcelona, with Mesut Ozil looking a possible depàrture this term. The German playmaker has so far failed to agree terms on a new contract with the Gunners, and in pictures from the best social network, he has looked like he is lacking in confidence and fight recently, leading to speculation he is disillusioned with life at present.

Barcelona’s Arda Turan is believed to be the ideal replacement for the creative star, and having started on 22 La Liga matches in his two seasons at the club, he could well be available for a move.

The Turkish international has talked of a potential move to North-London previously, knowing his playing style matches our philosophy, but his agent insists that there has been no contact as of yet.

Ahmet Bulut said; “There is currently no offer, there is nothing to speak of right now.

“I have not been contacted by Arsenal. As I said before, he is happy at Barcelona and has three years left on his contract.”

A potential move for the Barca man would most likely pivot on the future of Ozil, who has been linked with a possible switch to Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

There is talk of Arsenal’s boss to oversee a complete rehaul of the current squad as part of his deal to stay on with the club beyond this summer, but all that remains gossip for now.

At 30 years-of-age, Turan does not pose a long-term prospect for the role, but should be in his prime at present and could well be seen as a short-term prospect, and Barcelona have no reason to ask for too high a fee due to his limited squad role and his age.

Would Arda be an ideal Ozil replacement? Do we have ready-made replacements in our squad already?

  1. The only star Arsenal needs
    is a new head coach
who will ditch 20 dead wood
    and rebuild from ground up
where only top quality and a winning attitude will do.

  2. 1. What is the point?

    2. What impact will one player (arguably not as good as the one he replaces) have on our club?

  3. A 30 year old bench warmer who rather sat in the stands for 6 months during the transfer ban than playing with his club.

Yeap, sounds like Arsenal quality alright.

  4. sounds just like wengers type of player, another sheep who will follow him for the big bucks.all i can do is laugh , hahahahahaha.
