Should Arsenal focus on stopping ‘out of sorts’ Man United star

Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal players should be well aware of the potential dangers that we may face from the Manchester United and England international forward Marcus Rashford, as it was the Gunners that were United’s opponents when Rashford made his memorable Premier League debut last season.

That was a potentially pivotal game for us in the title race and we went into it with high hopes against an injury hit team, but it was Rashford who took the glory on the day, stunning Arsenal with two goals in the space of three minutes to set us on the road to a damaging 3-2 loss.

With their Swedish centre forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic injured it is likely to be the young English striker leading the line at Old Trafford on Saturday, so is he the main danger man and does Wenger need to take special care to stop him hurting our title challenge once more?

Maybe, but this season has not been the same for Rashford and his recent appearance as a sub for England against Spain highlighted the player’s poor form. The former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino spoke to Talksport about the issue and he believes that Mourinho is to blame for not playing the youngster or playing him out of position.

He said, “I don’t like the way he’s handled Marcus Rashford.

“I just thought – start of the season, you bring Zlatan [Ibrahimovic] in, whatever you do get the kid in alongside him. Just give him a chance to show how good he can be.

“I’ve seen Rashford deteriorate quite a lot this year, and there is no other reason because he has been taken out of the firing line.

“Last year he was absolutely sensational at the end of the season for United and now I am looking at a young lad that has been given a new deal, but been taken out of the firing line, not playing much football now.

“He came on for a sub yesterday [for England against Spain], albeit not for a long time but he looked completely out of sorts.”

Good news for Arsenal, of course, as long as he does not suddenly hit form in the match on Saturday. Do we need to pay special attention to him to make sure this does not happen or can Arsenal focus on our own game knowing that the United front line is not too dangerous?

  1. The early kick off on Saturday won’t be an easy game no matter what for two major reasons.. .

    1. We are playing manu at Old Trafford.

    2. Mourinho

…No matter the manu team that Plays,it won’t be easy. We are in form…better form than them but this games will be decided by who wants it more..

Wenger defeated Mourinho once in the community shield. That’s the only victory he has over Mourinho.

But I have a feeling we will stun Mourinhos manu. Hopefully we show up and make things incredible for us and bad for them…
