Sanchez To Return To Face Sunderland – But Should He Play? by AT
Arsenal have been handed a massive boost ahead of their defence of the FA Cup, as Alexis Sanchez is set to return to the squad in time for the beginning of the Gunners’ Cup campaign. The Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger confirmed the imminent return of the Chilean winger and marked down the Cup fixture against Sunderland as a potential return date.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the Frenchman said: “I think Sanchez is still short (for Newcastle on Saturday) but he could be back in one week against Sunderland.”
Alexis has been on the sidelines since suffering a hamstring injury during the game against Norwich and while Arsenal haven’t really faltered too much during his absence, having the Chilean back is a much needed boost for the side ahead of a difficult set of fixtures in January. But should Wenger throw his star player directly into the mix against Sunderland?
Personally, I would keep him on the bench for the Cup tie against the Black Cats and save him for the Gunners’ clash against Liverpool at Anfield. The former Barcelona man is probably raring to go after more than a month on the sidelines and I firmly believe Anfield would be the perfect place for Arsene Wenger to unleash the beast.
Perhaps Wenger has to be a little careful with his Chilean star from this point. The 27-year-old’s previous injury occurred as a result of burnout, with the Gunners boss choosing to ignore repeated calls for the player to be rested. If Arsenal are going for the title this season, then surely we cannot afford another injury to Alexis.
We need him match fit. Get him out there as soon as possible. No point playing him against good team an he is rusty. Sunderland is the perfect game for him
Sunderland is the perfect game for him to come off the bench.
30-20 mins left, let him get the rust off, have Alexis rearin’ to go at Anfield.
Our main focus is the League.
20 League games left
so no need to rush him back.
We should be able to beat
Sunders easily without him.
What does this mean?…. Alexis is supposed to be back in the FA cup against sunderLand…. Ain’t that right?…. No postponement pls
I just want Arsenal to win the League with the likes of monreal, sanchez and Ozil et al… for all their devition, hardwork and commitment towards this team!
Ozil could you ASSIST Mourinho to get a job??
oh please stop it already with this assist jokes :/
don,t get me wrong i am very happy&proud of what our team has been doing but we need to get every injured players back asap because i think after a fair amount of football played &good few injuries it,s started to take its toll on the team even before the defeat to the saints. against the cherries we weren,t as sharp as usual , an injection of fresh blood&legs is needed COYG!!
Nah!… sorry …Ozil group of companies would rather assist Eva caneiro… Moanino should remain in the Labour market for a while or Look to fabregas for assistance. L()L
Yea freshly injected “O” type blood does wonders to a team like arsenal… Recall how we raised our game when ozil joined and later sanchez.. There’s no better time to win this League than now C’monnnnnnn
Since when did pulling of hamstrings start occurring as a result of burnout?
Burned out doesn’t just mean you need an extra hour or two sleep. It causes fatigue, both mental and physical, and when muscles, tendons and joints are fatigued, they’re more likely to suffer injury. No matter how fit somebody is, their body needs to to rest and recuperate, if it doesn’t get the rest it will start to breakdown. So yes, pulled muscles can be a result of burnout.
I think sanchez should star as a substitute against the black cats in other for him to regain more fitness and scoring instincts for the liverpool game. Arsenal need to take every game like its final!!
Play him for 45 min and then first half at Liverpool just to see how he goes. About time he did as he was told as Arsenal pay him.
