Should Arsenal give Nacho Monreal a new contract?

Everyone has been talking about whether Aaron Ramsey will sign a new extension to his Arsenal contract, but there are other Gunners that are also ending next summer like Danny Welbeck, Petr Cech and Nacho Monreal. The 33 year old Spanish left-back has been one of our most consistent players over the last few seasons, but could his age be a problem?

Nacho himself has revealed that he is already in discussions with Arsenal. “At the moment we are talking with the club,” Monreal said. I’ve always said I am really happy, I feel very happy playing for Arsenal.

“I came six years ago. I have a good relationship with them. We are in contact in any moment so don’t worry about that. I am happy here. That is the most important thing.”

“That is my idea, that is what I want,” he said. “We will see what happens but at the moment I am 32 and I will turn 33 but I feel good.

“My idea is to play in football until my body says ‘Nacho, so sorry but that’s the end’. But I think it is far [away]. I hope so.

“You never know because your body, sometimes you start with some problems, some injuries and you can’t continue giving 100 percent. But at the moment I feel good so I am not thinking of my retirement.”

So this is a difficult one. We know defenders last longer than further outfield players, and Nacho doesn’t look like he is slowing down yet, so what do you think Arsenal should do? Give him a two year deal, or a one year with an option of a second, or just bring in a younger replacement next summer?
