Should Arsenal risk Ozil, Giroud and Koscielny at Leicester?

Arsenal fans are obviously desperate for the Gunners to get a win away to Leicester City at the weekend after the disappointment of losing our opening Premier League match at home to Liverpool. With much of the blame for the defeat being placed on the weakened nature of the Arsenal side, a lot of us are pinning our hopes for Saturday on the return of Mesut Ozil, Laurent Koscielny and Olivier Giroud, but the boss has suggested that they might not be ready.

As reported on the Arsenal website the Frenchman spoke about the risk of bringing them back too fast after their extended involvement in the Euro 2016 tournament and used what happened to Aaron Ramsey on Sunday to highlight his point.

The Welshman had only featured in pre-season for the first time in the final match against Man City, so did Wenger take a risk in playing him? If so it was a bit daft as he did have the options of players like Cazorla and Granit Xhaka to fall back on.

If he did though, you can understand why he would be even more reluctant than usual to risk Ozil and co against Leicester. On the other hand we do badly need to play better and pick up some points before our EPL rivals start to open a gap.

So assuming that the trio are not quite ready, which of them, if any, should we risk?

Bob.

  1. Koscielny will obviously be the one thats rushed back.
I don’t think that wenger will risk Ozil, as he has already stated that this game could come to soon for him.
Maybe we will see him on the bench with Giroud?

  2. Another thought, can’t we just accept risking players wouldn’t be a necessity if we actually bought re-enforcements ? Can fans for once unite and send the board a clear message of our expectations for the club ?

  3. Please Wenger, don’t risk them for the meaningless games. We need them in May for the Champion League and Premier League title matches…. lol

  4. We have to abandon the idea of playing Sanchez upfront. Like Podolski, it’s just not working. It’ll be either Akpom or Walcott to lead the line for me.

  5. I guess that’s mahrez is out of the question now just signed a 4 year at leicster. Guess it’s Johnny Evans and some youngster who’s got “potential”. Getting a bit nervous now, even the rumour mills are quite. Maybe that’s a good thing?

  6. I just hope we have cohesion lol

Although we shouldn’t rush him back, I’d be tempted to play The Boss. However, it may be risky for Kos to play his 1st game of the season in such a high paced game?

If Chambers & Holding were to play together again, then hopefully they would perform well and give us a glimpse in to the not to distant future of AFC CB pairing for the next 10+ years

    1. I’d probably start Ozil? Depends on how he’s feeling. Bring on Oli from the bench, if we need him. Hopefully we won’t and he can be fully prepared for the game after

  7. We’ll probably need Kosc to be start this game but Santi can play CAM instead of Ozil with xhakha and elneny/lecoq. Since we got no choice, might as well start walcott or chuba up front
