Should Arsenal sell ‘not interested’ star to Chelsea for £60million?

When you looked at the Arsenal team that went 20 games unbeaten in the first half of the season, you would have thought we had every chance of winning the Premier League title, but since January this exact same team has dropped tamely out of the Top Four and look a shadow of their former selves.

Many people think that this radical decline is down to the contract uncertainties of players like Ozil and Alexis, with their massive wage demands not being accepted by the Gunners’ heirarchy, which has led to talks being postponed until the summer. The ex-Gunner Charlie Nicholas thinks that Sanchez is being unreasonable and holding the club to ransom. ‘When I played you probably got told a month before [your existing contract was due to expire} you were getting a new contract,’ Nicholas was quoted as saying.

‘You had to work and earn that right and if you got a new contract without winning things you thought, “well, this is a result”.

‘These people [at Arsenal now] don’t even get close to winning the title. You are talking about jumping from £120,000-a-week to £200,000-a-week for Sanchez. Sell him!

‘He has not been interested in the game for the last eight weeks. He is camouflaging it.

‘I would sell him. Get him out. If he wants to go to Chelsea and Chelsea want to pay £60million, I would sell him to Chelsea.’

I would probably agree if he was talking about Mesut Ozil, who certainly seems to go missing from time to time, but could we really say that Alexis is “not interested”? And even if he was, would you agree to sell him to Chelsea?

  1. who ever we sign or who ever we sell wont change a thing as long as wenger is still in charge….. Jürgen Klinsmann in…. wenger out

  2. Massive mistake to sell him to any rival but the one you certainly don’t strengthen is the reigning champions, what’s the point if you’re gonna make them stronger and you weaker at the same time. Stupid comments from Charlie who obviously had one too many bottles champagne.

  3. I would prefer not to sell him to a direct rival, but given that we probably won’t compete for a title for another few years it doesn’t make much difference. His performances of late have been atrocious to say the least. It looks like he’s already checked out, and 60mil is a lot of money. If a bid like that comes along, I’d seriously consider it, even if it’s from Chelsea or City.

    1. Average OG, Welbeck and Perez are still in the team and you think selling the most influential striker we have is a very good point? A club with ambition wouldn’t have OG as our main striker, only at Arsenal you’ll find the manager, and most of his players to be so incompetent and lack ambition, and still don’t feel any shame

    2. I’m sure PSG will come to the party though this is how I would play it.
Go out and buy Isco, Lukaku, Mbappe right at the beginning of the transfer window then ask Sanchez if he still wants to go. If he does, let the clubs fight for him till the last day of the transfer window. We always pay more on the last day so we should take advantage of this for once.

  4. Would be very reluctant to sell to anyone in the EPL but wouldn’t have an issue selling him to someone in Spain/Italy/Germany/France if the price is right. I doubt the claims of him being “uninterested” however, I don’t think he will ever fit in at Arsenal. Alexis doesn’t play with any system (part of the reason Barca let him go) which will make it difficult for us to win titles with him on the team. Would rather cash out and go snag Lacazette, Lukaku, Morata, etc… as a replacement.

  5. When he came to Arsenal
    it was predicted Ozil would
attract all the worlds best strikers
and big trophies were guaranteed for the Gunners.
Now Arsenal has become ” Top 4 retirement village ”
Principles Kroenke Gazidis and Wenger provide a safe haven
for the injured, the over rated, over the hill and never good enough.
Ozil Debuchy Jenkinson Ospina Chambers Gabriel Gibbs
    Xhaka Ramsey Wilshere Walcott Chamberlain
    Campbell Perez Wellbeck Asano Sanogo.
Arsenal retirement village where the living is easy.

  6. I agree sell Ozil to them, he’d weaken that team. Chelsea’s off the ball work has been crucial to them winning this league.

Look at that Madrid team tonight, the talent of every-one of them, yet they all put a shift in. No wonder they sold him.

  7. Better overseas but if Chelsea are the only option better 60m than free next year with player around the camp who doesn’t want to be there,(one of a few I suspect).
Off topic RM tonight reminded me why I love football modric, Kroos, benzema all of them even the subs all playing a blinder. Oh the beautiful game makes you realise we are world’s away!

  8. You could also look at it this way; if you really believe like I do, that if Wenger stays nothing will change, ie we will not win the PL in the next 2-4 years. Then you have nothing to lose by selling Sanchez to Chelsea. He will be 29 in December and by the time Wenger’s next contract comes up Sanchez will be close to a nonfactor nearing the end of his career and nearly 31. With his playing style he might already have burned out. So selling Sanchez to Chelsea if Wenger stays will not cost us the PL and would harm Spurs chances.

  9. i dont c him going to chelsea…. if he is to leave it wil b either juve or psg and i cnt blame him…. klinsmann in wenger out
    ….

  10. Mad though, ‘camouflaging it’s?
Even when his hearts not in it he just turns up the wick and instantly there’s a gulf in class to the rest of our players. Says it all really!

  11. More to the point should we have sold jack/Ramsey to barca as rumoured for 50m?
    Yes yes yes

  12. WE LOVE TO SEE OUR TEAM BACK WITH THE STYLE WE USED TO PLAY MEAN SHOOT PASSES TICK TACK FOOTBALL NEXT SEASON WE NEED TO SEE KOSCIENLY AS ASUB ANEW BIG NAME TO PLAT ALONG SIDE MUSTAFA,ATALENTED MID FIELDER LIKE CAZORA IWOBI NEEDS TIME LIKE THE ONE OZIL EN SANCHEZ WERE GIVEN NOW THY NOLONGER EVEN WANT TO PLAY AFTER THE NEW CONTRACT BELLERIN FORM SLOWED DOWN BETTER SELL THOSE CHEAP PLAYERS COZ CHEAP THINNGS ARE ALWAYS EXPENSIVE U WILL BE ALWAYS BUYING ITHINK WHEN IT COMES TO WENGER HE LOST EVERYTHING IMEAN HIS STYLE OF FOOTBALL LEGACY EN RESPECT SO IF UR TO STAY MR WENGER DO SOMETHING SPECIAL NEXT SEASON AND AFTER QIUT AN ADVICE

  13. We bought Cech from Chelsea ,Sell Sanchez to Chelsea for Good money n make a good replacements to strengthen Arsenal .We are not Cowards, Arsenal’s is greater than Sanchez .

    1. Nobody is saying a player is bigger than Arsenal but for you seems Arsene Is bigger than anything. Totally Bias, how can we be mad If a winner wants to go to win titles? RVP , Cesc did, nasri did so Why all this crap trolling against Alexis? Madrid would do anything to keep Ronaldo and Barca Messi..Are they bigger than the Clubs? At the moment yes they are because they are making them millions on merchandising and also wining trophies. When they find a better replacement then the cycle moves on. Arsenal? As soon as alexis gone i want to see this trollers comments. 24 goals and 17 assists? If it was not because of him we would have been behind Stoke City by now..let’s see who’s is next to follow up. Ungrateful fans

  14. I recommend a better title. “Who should Arsene bring in as a Sanchez replacement?”
    That’s what we should discuss.
And really, who should come in that we can afford? I reckon not more than 50 million quid will be offered for the replacement.
