Soyuncu sends Arsenal a come-and-get-me plea but Torreira not so sure

According to every Arsenal ITK and his dog, the transfers of Calgar Soyuncu and Lucas Torreira we ‘done deals’ quite some time ago, but according to the latest quotes from both players, neither of them have finalised a move to the Emirates.

Soyuncu made it clear that he had refused other offers in the hope that the Gunners would come in for him, when he said: “I hope I go to Arsenal”.

“I really want to play in the Premier League, but everything depends on the team.

“I have a contract [at Freiburg] for three more years.

“I received bids from some of the teams in Turkey. I would not be able to give the team a name, but I did not accept it.

“I hope I go to Arsenal.”

So that doesn’t sound like the deal is certain at the moment, and Lucas Torreira was even more circumspect when he was asked about the reported move to Arsenal. “I do not know if I’m going to go there … At the moment, playing for my country is the most important thing”, Torreira said.

“Arsenal have a good team and are one of the most important clubs in the world, but right now I’m fully focused on playing for my country.”

So that doesn’t sound like there is any deal finalized either, and some will say that Stephan Lichtsteiner said pretty much the same thing the day before he was announced by Arsenal. But either way, it looks like there is still some more work to do before we have these two ‘done deals’ announced on the official website.
