Spurs linked with PL swap deal to block Arsenal move

Arsenal have been linked with a move to sign Richarlison from Everton this summer, but Tottenham are now claimed to be considering using Everton’s interest in Harry Winks in a swap deal.

The Gunners have been actively looking at attacking targets to add to our front line this summer, with both Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang yet to have been replaced. While Gabriel Jesus looks likely to come in this summer, we are expected to add one more, likely someone who can not only provide backup at CF but also in behind, and Richarlison ticks those boxes.

The Brazilian has proven to be a consistent performer during his time with both Watford and Everton in the Premier League, and after helping his side to avoid relegation he now seems open to a move to a bigger club.

While we have been linked with such a move, it is Tottenham who are now claimed to have been asked to be kept informed about his situation, and that they are considering using Everton’s interest in Harry Winks to work out a deal.

While Spurs have Champions League football to offer, I’m not sure if Richarlison would fit into their current system, and think he could well end up happy there. For that reason I’d be intrigued to see him end up with our noisy neighbours, although I don’t doubt his ability to be a big hit if Antonio Conte is able to maximise his talents.

I’d love for us to sign him, but I’m not entirely sure which role he would take in our current system either, but I would love for us to be considering him as a potential backup to Gabriel Jesus, as I think he is the non-selfish forward which could bring a lot from our other players, similarly to how Roberto Firmino does for Liverpool.

Would it feel like a blow if Spurs were to land Richarlison this summer? Where would he fit into our current side?

  1. Would be a good signing for Spurs but I think it’s clear to see we are not interested in him and with Chelsea’s attention towards Sterling coupled with Barcelona’s financial problems, we have a clear run at Raphinha, who I would personally prefer over Richarlison.

    1. It’s just as well you say Arsenal aren’t interested in Richarleson because he has already stated that he won’t go to them. He wants CL football wherever he ends up.

  2. Exactly the same as THFC media reports in that nobody can actually just be honest about things.
Arsenal reports state the club want Jesus, Richarlison & Raphinha, THFC reports state the same.
Arsenal are close to a deal or in advanced talks, etc with player A, THFC reports the same.
Arsenal are close to a deal or have submitted a bid for player B, THFC reports state they’re in the driving seat.
Player C has snubbed THFC & wants Arsenal move, but other reports have it vice-versa.
It’s ALL a load of media speculative hype to get supporters of both clubs ‘at it’ & far too many fall for the incessant bs that’s written.
When a player is officially signed & the respective clubs put it on their website is the ONLY time to believe anything, everything else isn’t worth getting your tanga’s in a twist for!

  3. I prefer Jesus over him anyway, but saying he’s going to be Jesus back up means you are being sentimental here.
He starts over Jesus for the Brazilian team, in fact he’s among the standout star, and you can check both of them stats for their country, you will know who will be back up for who.

  4. I like Richarlison but a careful look at him, you would see he isn’t technical, just a hard worker compared to Jesus.

    1. @Longbenark
That’s our problem, we’re chock a block with technical players and lacking in those players who are willing to put in the hard graft…IJS

  5. It seems like we want competition for Saka on the right and not another LW. And surely we have settled on Jesus over Richardlson. Martinelli/ESR on the left, Saka/Raphinha options on the right seems to be Mikel’s goal. Eddie/Jesus in the middle and Jesus can also play either flank if necessary. Those are some good options and if we get those players in this summer, plus a partner for Partey I would say those are some good incoming transfers. I’m not totally sold on the Ajax defender. The price being floated just seems too high. Wonder who else we are scouting for that position? And I suppose a Tierney backup still remains a puzzle we need to solve.

    1. Scotland has three good left back Robertson, Tierney and Aaron Hickey.

We should go for Hickey for more than one reason,
He is a 19 year old international
He knows and plays with Tomi
He can play on both sides, in fact he uses both feet equally.
He seems to be developing very quickly.
His cost is roughly 22 quid cheaper than Martinez

      1. Partly because there’s not many on the market and the top calibre ones have already been snapped up, any remaining will cost an arm and a leg.

The other example is Wenger converting Henry to a striker from a winger. Who could have been bought that would have done better than him? And what would it have cost?

Howard may have a point. But I’m not entirely sold on Raphinha either, but for different reasons – the price seems too high and we already have excess wingers to dispose of (but if h’e being converted… that would be different).

I also think Martinelli could make a top striker.

  6. I think if all this players we r talking about can make to arsenal, we are good to go this time around.

  7. So it seems that we are not going to get Richarlison, a lumbering, clumsy, diver and a player we have never tried to get anyway.

    Altogether now, “HURRAY!

  8. Nah, Richarlisn is not a priority, he is a hard worker indeed but so too is Rahphino.

The 4 3 3 is looking quite impressive with these potential signings

  9. ??? Not a single top outlet has had us trying to sign Richarlison. He isn’t a priority for Arsenal.
