Stoke v Arsenal Preview, Line-up and Score Prediction

Arsenal make the tough trip to Stoke City this afternoon to take on Mark Hughes side at the Bet365 Stadium.

The home side lost 1-0 to Everton last week thanks to a Wayne Rooney goal, and will be keen to kick-off their home campaign with at least a point, but I’m sure they won’t be expecting it.

Arsenal won their opening game in exciting fashion last Friday, overturning 2-1 and 3-2 deficits to win 4-3 against Leicester City, scoring twice in the final 10 minutes to snatch the win. Our side showed great fight to conquer the 2016 Premier League champions, and will be looking to build on that victory with another today.

We come into the match with two key absences in Laurent Koscielny and Alexis Sanchez, but neither featured against the Foxes last week, so there is no need to feel disheartened given the wealth of options available in our squad.

Predicted XI:

Holding  Mustafi  Monreal
Bellerin  Ramsey  Xhaka  Kolasinac
Ozil  Iwobi

This side should have more than enough to overcome Stoke today, despite their height and technical ability. The away side interestingly have more Champions League winners in their squad than any other side in England, and have clearly done well to bring in experienced winners, but today will not be their day.

I predict a 3-1 win away today, with Lacazette doubling his tally in only his second Premier League outing.

Should the Ox start ahead of Kolasinac? Does Elneny deserve to start over Ramsey? Is the above team right to take on Stoke’s strengths?

I’d prefer Mert in the Centre of defense to counter Crouch’s height. How do you bench Ox?…
    Mustaphi Per. Mon
    Ox. Elneny. Xhaka Kolasinac
    Ozil. Welbz

Expecting Arsenal to win by a two goal margin. A clean sheet would give us confidence going to Anfield. COYG??

  2. Tojo says:

Big up the lads today, I’ve a good feeling about this season!

    1. Henry says:

I will prefer Sanchez ozil and lacazet in front while at central defense metersacaer

    2. Nayr says:

      holding mertesacker monreal

      oxlade ramsey xhaka kolasinac

      welbeck lacazette ozil

welbeck for iwobi as he presses defenders alot leading to alot of mistakes from them.

mertesacker instead of mustaphi simply due to match fitness.

chamberlain for bellerin due to better end product and more of a goal threat.

sure 100% welbeck starts others not so sure.we need his pressing.

  3. ZA_Gunner says:

Ox for Bellerin or he’s signing for Chelsea on Monday. Bellerin signed a new long contract so we can afford to bench him.

  4. Adajim says:

Hmmmm. Hope they get their rhythm, I will be happy with a draw at bet365 stadium. I don’t bank on our performance at end of season. Arsenal at d end of season is normally a different arsenal. This team perform best when nothing is at stake, can’t handle pressure

  5. Vish says:

Ospina ….. because Cech has been abysmal since coming to Arsenal

    Holding Mertesacker Kolasinic
    Xhaka Ramsey
    Oxelaide Chamberlain Ozil Monreal
    Lacazette Giroud

Were going to need the height of Giroud and Mertesacker to counter the aerial attacks from Stoke .
I’d bench Bellerin because he has been pathetic of late and I’d choose Ramsey over Elneny as Ramsey carries the ball forward more than passing it sideways as Elneny does . Welbeck and Walcott can be out super subs for three 2nd half to stretch a tired Stoke defence with their pace .

It’s going to be interesting to see how our boys fair against Bruno Martin’s Indi and Shawcross as both are despicable dirty players that aren’t afraid to get physical.

    1. dutchy says:

At least we will win with 12 man..

      1. Vishaad says:

Where you count 12 men ??? Oxlaide Chamberlain is 1 person FYI .

  6. Remember Resource? says:

OT: van dijk a possibility…draxler maybe.. for those of you saying I’m false. I request you go back ad read about the lacazette transfer. About lemar, deal was supposed to be done in july, arsenal are horrible at transfers. The window we signed ozil, we were close to securing fellaini and cesar. You know what happened? we signed ozil. on deadline day..
So please everything i say is pretty authentic. Lemar is an issue because of payment structure and monaco hold are the cards and we know arsenal won’t budge..

    1. Raj says:

Everyone here is worried about how our transfer window will shape up and here we have a motormouth puking all over the place .
      Admin, Please block this guy.

      1. Remember Resource? says:

Happy belated indépendance day Raj:) I’m posting transfer info. And my source has a verified track record with lacazette you can chceck. Called it exactly the way it panned out before hand. From rejected bids to lyon president to signing of laca replacement by lyon way before it was all reported. Club has not made any solid approaches this windwo apart from lacazette mbappe and lemar.. So you can understand that When i say looking at i mean looking at and not will happen. This misinterpretation is what causes drama among fans. The moment I heard the lemar deal was sort of falling through i immediately reported it. I never shied away from the forum because I know us fans want to know what happens with arsenal in the window because the club are so damn silent and poor in the window..

        1. DarkPope says:

You did not immediately report was when all channels in the media were reporting lemar deal was off that you decide to come out with it. I counted it was about 13 days

    2. waal2waal says:

…we were told the lemar transfer was a “done deal” – the matter speaks for itself.
      – jose mourinho has his eye on the same player, right?
      – this was *never a “done deal”, face it.

      1. Remember Resource? says:

It was all wrapped up subject to last minute finalisations. Arsenal had issues with the payment structure. These are minor issues. Similar to terms like “Subject to personal terms” or “Subject to medical” stuff can fall through. This is not fifa. Arsenal had their eye on mkhitaryan and lukaku as well but never made any serious efforts to get them. Just like mourinho has his eye on a number of players lol. Just because mourinho has his eye on someone doesn’t mean that he will sign that someone. Is lemar supposed to replace rahsford or martial who they spent so much money on? They offloaded depay for a reason. Even liverpool are tracking lemar and so are chelsea fyi just like the other top clubs from around the world look at a number of players. Keita is also on arsenals watchlist. Please understand. I will stop posting if you guys don’t understand simple reality.

        1. Break-on-through says:

Lacazette one was called (and verified) well before you got in on the action. You added Lemar with him because people would have asked you to tell us something we don’t know.

        2. neil says:

Fell free to stop posting then… only place for nees is maybe Sky sports..

    3. Vishaad says:

I would love to see Draxler at Arsenal . He will add a different dimension to our attack . Personally I don’t see Arsenal paying 60+ million for Van Diyk when we are haggling for Lemar. We can get Sahko from Liverpool for 30 million who will be a commanding presence at the back . What about Juan Cuadrado? ?? . He would make an excellent wingback for our attack .

      1. Remember Resource? says:

No news/idea on cuadrado or sakho

        1. dutchy says:

No fake news is also no news, we understand.

  7. Adajim says:

Bullshit!! Enough of dis ox staying of a thing 35k is a good business, sell him off, how good is d guy? He didn’t even had a good season like bellerin had in his breakout season.
If not for the stupid British coater I would prefer all our English over hyped core be sold, if Chelsea needs them good luck. They are just there like weed, 6 English players none a guarantee starter or game changer. If you think cfc is buying ox to be used as starter you are wrong, it’s just to add up the bench and make up the rules.
Look at us become a mess, wenger said we are producing English core some years back but where is the optimism, Dele Ali was still playing in league one when whilshere is playing for us in UCL, Harry Kane was battling with u23 while Ramsey has been a major starter, Theo has had over 250 appearance, went to 2006 wc with England but can’t get into England 1st team. What are we then boasting off?

    1. Declan says:

Ox is best right wingback we have.

  8. A-gooner says:

I think arsenal should sell ozil and sanchez and buy lemar and maharez

    1. Quophi says:

Boy!! I’m I glad you’re not in charge. The grass is always greener on the other side .

  9. gotanidea says:

Arsenal played with the power of ten men against Leicester City. Because some players got robbed most of the time, due to their lack of skills when possessing the ball.

Hence I would like to see players that can keep the ball well, do not afraid to take risk and are willing to work hard to retrieve the ball:

    Mustafi Mertesacker Monreal
    Chamberlain Elneny Xhaka Kolasinac
    Iwobi Welbeck

    1. Sliq says:

Ozil should start ….iwobi can come in 2nd half

  10. Sliq says:

Glad weve sold Gabriel, now i hope we go on to sell chambers, Debuchy & Jekinson to enable us sign Van Dijk for £60m on deadline day ?

    1. Sliq says:

      ……..and SELL GIBBS too

    2. J c walker says:

This is the best formation I’ve seen so far to tackle stoke.

  11. waal2waal says:

Cech has been at sixes-n-sevens when last we seen him in goal – he should’ve have stepped aside for Ospina to marshall his defence and keep goals conceded down to 1. Its not beyond him to try keep a clean sheet, we know he prides himself on it, but, if the competition to be in goal at arsenal is ‘credible’ …then conceding 3 means he should clearly step aside.

  12. chinaka1 says:

    Iwobi deserves to start

  13. Declan says:

Ox at right wingback and Monreal at left wingback for me.
Kolasinac instead of Elneny even though i think El has played well recently. Mert must play in defence.
