Super Spaniard snubs Barca to catch the ‘Arsenal train’

He has already proved to the Arsenal fans that he had a big appetite for a fight, a desire to show what he can do in the toughest league in the world and a very strong character to go with the bundles of talent that were nurtured in two of the best academy systems in the world and now Hector Bellerin has got another gold star on his report.

The precocious Spanish right back, whose performances for the Gunners last season got us out of a very tricky injury situation and catapulted him into the limelight, earning him a call up to the senior Spain national team as well, has been increasingly linked with a return to his boyhood club Barcelona.

We have had good reason to worry as well after losing the likes of Thierry Henry, Fabregas and Hleb to the Catalan giants in recent years. Bellerin, however, is happy where he is and has spoken out about his love for his new club, as reported by ESPN.

In fact he made it clear that it was his choice to come to north London in the first place, not a second choice after not making the grade with Barcelona. He also did his chances of cementing the regular first team place ahead of Mathieu Debuchy no harm at all by revealing that the chance of working with Arsene Wenger was a major part of his decision.

Bellerin said, “If I’d wanted to play there, I would have stayed there in the first place. The fact that I came to Arsenal means that I want to play here.

“The job has just started and I am not thinking of going anywhere else. I just want to cement my place in the first team, get more games and hopefully stay for a long time.

“The moment Arsenal said they wanted me and I chatted to the boss, saw the training ground and where I was going to live, my mind was made up. I had no doubts.

“Playing for Barcelona’s academy team and breaking all kinds of records was a great experience for me, but then I had the chance to catch the Arsenal train and I took it.

“The idea of playing for one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League was a real attraction, but it was the idea of working for Arsene Wenger which really sold the idea to me.

“I know he is a man who likes to bring up young players and I knew if I was doing well that he would give me the chance, and that is how it has turned out.

“He told me that if I worked hard and made the right progression then I could play for the first team. He showed faith in me and I am happy I have been able to justify his trust.”

The report also claims that Bellerin is on the verge of putting his signature on a new long term Arsenal contract so it looks like ww will all have many happy years riding the Arsenal train.

    1. sometimes…….. Skills, strenght, speed, vision, potential, stamina ain’t all it takes to be a professional footballer…… WISDOM is also needed to excel……. Perhaps this is what sets Hector bellerin (quite sure he has a very good advisor and he listens to reason)apart from the likes of Fabregas, Van persie , nasri etc

    2. Taking that train elswhere than stay put at the emirates does not usually end well….does it?….. we all may think Van persie’s move to Fenerbache is only just a football transfer….. Sometimes, i think his move away to an average(with due respect, they may be a top team in turkey, but i dn’t rate em outside) turkish team has something to do with being haunted by his past…. Trying to right his wrongs of betrayal…..and a quest for a peaceful mind…or trying to go to where he may not be too heard of… L()L ….kidding but it might be true

  1. On a real note, this is fantastic news. Looking forward to this season where he solidifies his talents

    1. Me too 🙁
      What next?
      Incredible double swoop.
      German Superstars sign for Arsenal.
      Reus? Draxler? Muller Hummels?
No Zelalem and Gnabry sign 1 year extensions 🙁
Last season’s 30 goal English super striker
      makes shock switch to Arsenal.
      Kane!!!
No. In fact it is Arthur Dink 11 year old Holloway
school kid who scored 30 goals in lunch time football
against the schools 5 year old’s.

      1. Typical negative gooner! We have an abundance of quality young players that are ready to be exposed to first team action. I expect akpom, gnabry and zelalem to be this years surprises. These youngsters deserve to be part of the 1st team now. They understand the arsenal way and they have the needed quality. I hope we can become the english barca one day churning out technically gifted talents. England national team needs us! As for Bellerin, I am delighted for him. He was outstanding last year along with Le Coq. I love our team at the moment just needs Benzema and we are mounting a serious challenge.

  2. Hector made me forget that we had debuchy. When debuch was injured I was like “who the f cares, we got f*ckin bellerin”

Sorry I’m under the influence and this article was in my line of typing

  3. Great and i hope he does stay for a very loooooooong time. (heh! just saying though, cus we’ve heard that a lot and when other clubs comes,we loose em) ….Funny how even before i first watch him play i fell in love with him cus of his name H-E-C-T-O-R B-E-L-L-E-R-I-N….the boy’s too much talent..we are arsenal,we’ve got talent! #ya gunners ya!

  4. Wonderful player with a great attitude and personality 🙂
OT: I’m reading that Man City are now favourites to sign Pogba.
I cant see Pogba leaving but if he did would this free up Fernando?
He might be good for us, bit of a hard man and hard tackler.
Probably couldnt afford his wage demands anyway.

Lots of rumours flying around this morning – Palace after Remy, WH after Mirallas.
Not a lot going on for us though!

  5. Dani alves has signed one year contract extension, jenko is on loan for one season and hector has signed long term deal.
It all makes sense now but next year when jenko returns from loan and barca will come for hector then the actual picture will become clear that whom does wenger keep.
