Super stat shows Sanchez vital for Arsenal and not just for goals.

Arsenal fans are already well aware of how important the Chilean international star is to Arsenal and any chance we have of winning a trophy and more importantly the title of Premier League champions, as we have seen how much the Gunners suffer when the fantastic forward is out of action or struggling for form.

This season Alexis is operating for us in his new role of centre forward and is really starting to shine in the position, so he might be even more important to Arsenal this year. Sanchez is not your typical central striker though, and still tends to come deeper and get more involved in the creative side of things as well as the finishing of the chances created.

This is highlighted in a little statistical report by Squawka.com, which has compiled a list of the top 20 players in terms of defence splitting through balls from the top five leagues in Europe. The only player with more than the Gunner’s 13 is the PSG and Argentina star Angel Di Maria and the next Premier League player on the list is David Silva of Man City with eight of these passes defined as ‘a defence splitting pass for a teammate to run onto’.

The other notable things was that almost every other player in the top 20 is a creative midfeild type like Silva, Coutinho, Tadic and De Bruyne, so for Alexis to be doing it from the centre forward position shows just how vital he is to our attack.

So will he be able to steer Arsenal to the EPL title?

Bob.

  1. As my name suggersts, I do think Sanchez is our missing link this season. Wenger had a stroke of genius making him our main striker.

  2. That’s some going by a CF. I seen recently that Alexis was one goal behind Henry at the 100 game mark. When you consider that Henry took our penno’s it makes it all the more impressive. I’m not sure how early Henry got this duty but I’m guessing some time before the 100th game.

  3. Sanchez is our new Ozil. If we can have a new world class striker (someone like Suarez or Lacazette) next season and put Sanchez behind him, our attacks will be more dangerous.

  4. I and many fans,Wenger also have likened Alexis upfront to Suarez and Aguero but with his contribution in creativity and midfield, he is looking more like a false 9…maybe even the god of the position itself, Lionel Messi.
and knowing how hardworking, resilient and diligent Alexis is he ll keep getting better there.

what have we got on our hands?!!! wow!
