Szczesny expects BIG things from Arsenal this season

One Arsenal player who is no mood to feel sorry for himself or his team mates after the away day defeat by Chelsea on Sunday is the Poland international keeper Wojciech Szczesny. The 24-year old may have had to pick the ball out of his net more often so far this season as in the last, but he is clearly not too worried.

As an Arsenal.com report reveals, Szczesny believes that the Gunners performed well at Stamford Bridge against a very strong Chelsea side. And to be beaten by two moments of magic, according to our number one, is no reason to be too hard on ourselves.

Last season’s joint winner of the Premier League Golden Gloves award, along with Petr Cech, also points to the fact that Arsenal’s uncertain start has not been helped by a tough fixture list including Tottenham, Man City and Borussia Dortmund. And as Szczesny jets off to meet with his Poland team mates, he is confident that Arsenal will start to rack up the points after the international break is over.

He said, “I thought it was a very even game. But Chelsea have an ability to keep clean sheets at home and I thought they were very good, they took their chances with two brilliant moments.

“One, the brilliant run from Hazard that led to the penalty. On the second goal, the ball from Cesc and the finish. Sometimes you’ve got to take your hat off to the brilliance of the opposition.

“We’ve had a tough run so far. But I’d like to think that our start has been solid, not as good as we expected from ourselves but I believe that, after the international break, we can push on and get more points.

“You can’t say we’ve played badly against Chelsea, it’s just that we’ve come up against a very strong side, probably the favourites to win the Premier League at this point.”

Even if you don’t agree with the Arsenal keeper, which I do, you have to admire the positive attitude from him. Surely having players like that in the dressing room will only help the Gunners to turn almost into accomplished, because the talent and the players are there, we just need them to click into top gear. What do you think Gooners?
