The futures of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Unai Emery linked

The real reason why Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has not signed a new Arsenal deal.

The fallout from failing to win their last few games has been massive for Arsenal. The club’s supporters have grown impatient and they have created one of the most toxic environments in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium.

There have also been reports of unrest in the club’s dressing room. We could go on and it would be difficult to get something good happening at Arsenal at the moment.

With all that is going on, one of the biggest problems the club faces is tying down their top players to new contracts.

Reports from Metro Sports claims that the Gunners are struggling to tie Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang down to a new deal because of the uncertainty surrounding Unai Emery’s future.

Emery has failed to inspire his side to a win in any of their last five league games. There have been calls for him to be fired, but the club has backed him to turn things around.

They have also been looking to get Aubameyang on a new deal but the Gabonese attacker is not willing to commit his future under present circumstances.

Aubameyang will enter the final year of his current deal in the summer and the club may look to cash in on him. However, a change of manager may bring a new lease of life that would convince the striker to renew his current deal.

I hate to say this but the brutal truth is that whoever is the manager if Aubameyang does not sign an extension he must be sold. Arsenal cannot afford to lose another high profile player on a free.

  1. Until we hear from Auba, it’s all speculation. IF and I say if Raul is willing to risk losing Auba while he is defending Emery, then Raul should be on the hot seat.

If Emery is struggling with two top strikers, that shows how poor he is. Rodgers working a miracle with Vardy, imagine if he had Laca and Auba?

A good manager could fix our woes if he is allowed to do so. Sell Xhaka and get a better midfielder, sell Mustafi and Sokratis and bring in a CB to pair with Saliba next year; Holding and Chambers as backup.

By improving defense and getting back to attacking football would be a welcome change. There are managers capable of this, if only Raul had the guts to sack Emery.
