The last time Arsenal played Chelsea in Europe (Highlights Video)

Arsenal are going through a very good run of results against Chelsea at the moment, with just one defeat in our last 8 meetings, but in Europe we have only faced the Blues once, back in 2004 in the Champions League QuarterFinals.

We drew 1-1 at Stamford Bridge with goals from Eidur Gudjohnsen and Robert Pirès so were favourites for the second leg at Highbury. Thierry Henry missed a couple of early chances, but Reyes popped up with a goal just before half time to give us the lead. Unfortunate the second half was all Chelsea’s with Lampard equalising after just six minutes, and Wayne Bridges scoring the winner with 3 minutes remaining.

One worrying stat is that Arsenal have never beaten an English side in Europe (4L2D) whereas Chelsea have only lost 4 out of 17….

Anyway Enjoy the highlights anyway. Here is the Arsenal line up that day…

Lehmann
A.Cole
Vieira
Pirès
Ljungberg
Reyes
Lauren
Henry
(Bergkamp (on) – Henry (off)81′)
Edu
Campbell
Touré
