The Tottenham line-up that Arsenal will probably face today

Tottenham will be missing some significant players today and will be short at right-back which is an area that Arsenal could well take advantage of.

Spurs record signing Tanguy Ndombele is out through injury and their other summer big-name acquisition, Giovani Lo Celso will most likely start on the bench.

Alli could get a start but chances are that Mauricio Pochettino will go with Lucas Moura and there is an expectation that Christian Eriksen will start.

Probable Tottenham line-up

Lloris
Rose
Sanchez
Alderweireld
Aurier
Winks
Sissoko
Eriksen
Moura
Son
Kane

That looks a decent team but Eriksen has issues with the club over a transfer, Aurier has yet to play this season and is transfer listed, Winks is not the solid midfielder he was once touted as and Alli will not be starting.

You can see Arsenal targeting their wing-backs, they look very weak there and with Pepe and Aubameyang on the flanks and Lacazette in the middle you have to think that Spurs will be worried.

The Tottenham midfield looks weak simply because Eriksen is not great at tracking back and I can see Winks and Sissoko being run over, especially if Unai Emery goes with Torreira, Willock and Ceballos in the centre, as I expect him to.

Obviously, their forward line up is formidable and that is the one area that is a concern for Arsenal but the one way to contain the Tottenham front three is to cut out service to Kane, Son and Moura.

Put it this way, that Tottenham line-up is nowhere near as strong as it could have been and Arsenal have to take the opportunity they have been handed today.

  1. Yes, I’m also worried that our defenders wouldn’t be able to contain Tottenham’s attackers

    That’s why our attackers have to score first and score more than two goals, if possible

  2. ???????
    Torreira willock ceballos as I expect him to. You’re funny.
    1.He’s not going to start a midfield without xhaka
    2.you probably haven’t been following arsenal
    3.I think the correct phrase would be “as I wish he would ”
    Also an added note, that midfield can’t beat a PL team. They’re all too small.

      1. ? i am indeed, and i know where this conversation is heading…. and yes i watched them beat Lincoln midweek too! All i can say is… fair play to him! ?

  3. We need to start: Leno, Niles, Sokratis, Luiz/Chambers, Kolsanic,Torreira, Ceballos, Guendousi/Wilock, Aubameyang, Pepe, Lacazette

    Maybe Ozil

    Spuds will be tough to beat but we CAN do it.

    1. Seen Iwobi score and his play? That’s why support to the boys is important. Arsenal fans can castigate their players and it’s affecting the boys. Not good Iwobi is better than we thought. A big game player. Am missing him here.
      I support and wish our boys to do well.

      1. Bro please give it a rest on the “you are missing iwobi” if you are missing him then support him on social media, I just wanted to make Sue smile that’s all,he’s an Everton player now so let it go.

  4. I’m on the same page as Joe, between this one and on another post someone saying Torriera, Ceballos, and Ozil centrally, what have you lads been watching. Tott are strong in midfield, pace and a physical presence, they’ll try to make it difficult for a team to grab it by the scruff. At times you’ll need to earn the right to play. I’d put your one ahead of that other guys one only because Ozil hasn’t played yet & Willock can have a bit of bite or a sting when he’s gritty ..also Ceballos – Torriera have never probably trained as a two never mind playing in a match (one of the biggest of our season). Emery usually goes with Xhaka when we are up against a good strong tall midfield that can carry a big threat, he usually goes with Torriera alongside him and if Ramsey were here he’d be playing with them. Ceballos could come in for Ramsey, but I feel most likely will be Willock or Guendouzi. Ozil would be a mega surprise right now. Ceballos was really good in the last home game, so there’s still a chance that Emery might start him. But I’m going to go for Torriera Xhaka Guendouzi, Xhaka slightly deeper than the other two who will play a type of box to box role when in possession.

  5. Hope we take our chances and beat the scum today.
    In other news, Iwobi just scored for everton with a diving header against wolves.

  6. Emery wanted nzonzi instead of torreira a big tall physical player in midfield it might explain why he plays xhaka who has similar build. I like a torreira, willock/guendouzi, ceballos midfield but they are a little lightweight.

  7. It’s funny how Iwobi was not good enough in the eyes of many Arsenal flans here, he now has two goals in two starts for Everton. They all say Nelson is better, lol. I rest my case till the season ends so you can all judge for yourselves.

    1. Iwobi started out with big potential but then his progress stalled despite playing a huge amount of matches.

      Young player have 3 stages:
      1 Young and big potential
      2 consistent progress while in 1st team
      3 secure a starting 11 place or sold with another youngster replacing him

      Iwobi blocked at stage 2 and Nelson is at stage 1 right now

  8. Torreria and Xhaka should start the match as the pairing defensive midfielders in front of the back-four defense-line of: AMN, Luiz, Sokratis and Kolasinac alias the Tank. And our mid-trio should be Pepe at the right wing while Ozil playing as NO10 will be in the center as the attacking midfielder with Aubameyang playing to his left as left winger. And Lacazette will lead the line. This should be the correct Arsenal starting line-up most suitable to take on Tottenham Hotspur this evening at the Ems in the PL. Admini Martin, your projected Spurs line-up for the match looks very strong. They could cause Arsenal a damage in the match if the Gunners become overconfident and complacent in the match. Therefore, the Gunners should be confident in the match taking care to not become overconfident in it. But take on Spurs imposing the supremacy which they possess on them in the game to beat them.

    Once again my Arsenal starting XI and the 7 Gunners on the bench for the match are below.
    Starts:
    Leno;
    AMN Luiz Sokratis Kolasinac;
    Torreria Xhaka;
    Pepe Ozil Aubameyang;
    Lacazette.

    Bench:
    Martinez Chambers Mustafi Guandouzi Willock Mkhitaryan Nelson.

  9. No north London Derby is an easy game as both teams go hard at it. Hopefully Emery’s tactics are spot on for this home game, and we come away with a victory. Our defence can be a big worry and hopefully they will play out their skins. If Kane can be prevented from scoring today that’ll be good. Son & Moura are good too, so if we can neutralise them to a large extent we have this game sorted. Then again, it’s all easier said than done.
